Just wondering how everybody else is doing Slapping on the HSS setup.I have found it has made me tighten up my technique.I have been playing my 25th and not even playing my SR5 so I can get used to it.That last S pickup makes it a little harder.....but the sound WOW!!!

Try slapping a HH bongo. That is a tight space!

Is it slapping or popping that's the problem?

I got used to it with my old Sterling 5HS so later on it was easy on my Big AL.
Try digging between the neck and middle single coils too. It works as an alternate position for me.

popping! And yes you can go between the pickups but I like slapping the strings on the fretboard with my thumb.

I don't slap/pop much but have been playing around a bit more lately and would second the suggestion of in between the two S pups.

I am a sparse slapper :)

I agree the popping space is a little tight but works OK.The Bongo and 25th work fine once you practice a bit with them.

I slap the person that asks me to slap. LOL

tk

Upright bass players were forced to adapt slaping in their technique to be heard back in the days before electric basses and amps had been invented. Slap is not a bad thing unless is played like a chronic condition from some of those kids in music shops at weekends that sound like typewriters.
