What's this? A protptype? Or a custom piece for JP? Not the bridge pup (CL or DS?) The bar faces the bridge...

On a JP7, the bar faces the bridge.

Only with the D-Sonic, with the CrunchLab it comes facing the neck from the factory. its probably JP experimenting.

On closer inspection, I'm not sure it is facing the bridge. Have a look at the neck pickup polepieces, they're shining the same as the bridge side coil of the bridge pickup, I think it might just be bad lighting and the pickup isn't flipped.
Cant explain the chrome hardware though, but I like it!

I remember reading one of JP's tweets. He was experimenting with one of his JPX's using Jetfrets as well. Maybe this is the one?

I did a search. This has been covered here on July 8: 7 String JPX [Archive] - John Petrucci Forums

So do you guys carry binoculars and slide rules when you come to shows????
Just kidding. I am amazed every day at what you guys on the forum see and remember when you see the band live.
Indeed that was a JPX 7. It does have chrome hardware and the bar of the CL pickup faces the neck. 10-56 for the string gauges.
This is a guitar that EBMM sent us the other day to check out.
The show in Buffalo was the first night we used it. JP and I both thought it sounded great.
I can't really shed anymore insight than that. If you go to the Wooster show on Saturday there is a good chance you will see it again.

Thanks! Looks like either JP got creative (which is unlikely, since he likes his guitars as is), or that's a prototype. I wonder which is which...
