So, as many of you guys know, after graduating from UCLA I opted to take a teaching position here in Korea. Upon my departure I noted that there was only ONE single EBMM dealer here in Seoul, South Korea. Problem being that I live in Busan which is the port city on the complete opposite end of the peninsula. So I wasn't really going to get a chance.

Anyways, my boss decided to send me on a business trip to our corporate HQ in Seoul, and while I was here I decided to check this EBMM dealer out. I have been deprived for too long! It's not exactly a big music city so, I kept my hopes low only expecting to see a couple balls. So I search for my old thread where WillyD pointed me out to Guitar Net, the sole EBMM dealer in Korea. So I find the phone number and give them a ring. A nice gentleman answers the phone who is able to speak English. I ask him where the store is located, and he replies by asking me where I am. I tell him im in the Jong-no District in the YBM (my company's) main building.

There's a strange and uneasy pause, then he asks me if I'm next to a window. I say yes, and he tells me to look across the street and look for a large building labeled "Korean Instrument Market" in Korean. I put down the phone, scan the buildings across the street, and I see it. He tells me, "we're on the 3rd floor." I thank him, then toss on a jacket and run outside. Haha

How weird is THAT!!!!

So I arrive at the massive 7 story building, and its just a hub of musical instruments. ANYTHING one could want was there. Pianos, Baby grands, grands, brass, woodwinds, strings, electronica and of course... Electric guitars/basses.

As I walked in the building I tried not to get my hopes up cause the store was so small but as I walked in i was pleasantly surprised. The store may have been small, but the contents were SUPERIOR to so many shops I've been to. There were some amazingly rare pieces in there. EBMM and non-EBMM related. Particularly one named Lenny, and another with a sticker "Play Loud" on it.

Anyways, I ask the front office man where the EBMM's are located and he takes me to some guitars in cases. Some Custom Shop Fenders (a NOS 69 strat too.....) and a whole row of EBMM's!

Stealth Stingray 4, White StingRay 4, 25th Bass, 25th Guitar, BFR Axis, ASS, and a MD JP. I was expecting one or two balls but they had so much more. I giggled a bit, and the manager told me they also had two JPX's, a Steve More, and Silo spec in the back. This may be a small humble shop but it had EBMM and other stock that would make 75% of all Guitar Center's jealous. It was a good day! Here are some pics! Looks like I know where to go for EBMM's in South Korea now, and need to plan a trip to Japan too! :D

Here are some pics. Prices bluured out. Sorry for the crappy iPhone pics!

Hey Steve, glad you found them! It's easy to get lost in the music arcade maze of Nag Wan Sanga. Are you teaching for Shi Sa? Great hagwon, I studied Hangul there and would often visit that arcade after class. I liked passing by that park in front, the Koreans called it "haraboji kongwan" Grandfather Park in English. It was full of people and felt like I went back in time, when passing by. Lots of history there. Be safe and have some soju with your bulgogi!

Yeah, I teach in the Shi-sa building for the ELS program. How weird is that?! Me and WillyD in the same building! Haha, though at different times. Yeah, its hard to believe the attack happened 60 miles to the west. Crazy times.

For anyone who goes to Seoul, the metro-capital of South Korea, you gotta go to the music plaza in Nagwon. A veritable hoarding of MUSIC. And EBMM's!

Here is the response from John Park who is our distributor for Korea (also makes the sterling by mm)
Scott,

No, we have more dealers in Seoul. Guitarnet store is a kind of showroom displaying many MM instruments. Michael will give you more info about dealers.

Holey moley! I was there in the mid 90's touring with a country band. One of the most amazing music retail experiences I've ever had. And the food wasn't half bad, either. Nice to know it's still there...

Great story, Steve. Thanks for sharing, buddy. I'll be going to Vietnam next week, I'll be doing a show there on either my JP6 or a friend's 25th. Really looking forward to it.

Thanks for the info BP!! I would like to know all the places particularly on Busan. Korea's second largest city.

Any Knuckleheads that come to Korea, let me know! I'm fluent in Korean and know my way around fairly well!!
