hi all,
i've recentrly bough a mm jhon petrucci left hand, it's a very skill guitar.
but I really was surprised when I see that the height of the pickup cannot be regulated, there are no spring in the PU.
it's normal?

bye

The pickups are direct mounted to the body. They cannot be adjusted downwards but you can shim them to raise them.

tank you guy for all your answers!

It's not a problem, the guitar sounds perfectly, it was only a my curiosity.

Anyone tried to rise up the PU? ther's particular benefits or not?

tanks a lot!

I don't know how pickup height can be perfect for everyone when action is based on preference. Both my JP6 guitars needed a pickup height adjustment after I set them up, pickups were low at 5-6mm. One guitar was set up by the UK distributor and no they didn't touch the pickups, just the neck.

Add short springs to each screw so you can make adjustments when you need to.

Yup, that's established considering it's a JP6 - my comment was in response to whoever said it's perfect - for them yes, not for all :)

The point people miss is pickup height is also related to bridge and string height, so can anyone confirm that JP does not tweak pickup/bridge/string height? His Ibanez JPM guitars *did not* have pickups sitting 5-6mm below strings?
