First thing you might notice is that I butchered my Silo Special and put a humbucker in the neck! Love it. I kept looking to get a fatter and fatter tone out of the neck pickup, and tried everything I could get my hands on in a single-coil size, but finally broke down and figured out that I just need a humbucker to do the work!

I also picked up a JVM410H, and man this pairing sounds AWESOME. I put KT77's in the JVM to give it a bit more bottom than the EL34's offer, and I'm glad I did. Sorry for the crappy pics and no clips, but I'm gonna try and do that at some point this week.

Pickups in the Silo are:
Dimarzio Breed in the Bridge
Dimarzio FS-1 in the Middle
Duncan Jazz in the Neck

I think that the Breed is the best pickup for the Silo, personally. The FS-1 is also fantastic sounding. I'm not 100% sold on the Duncan Jazz, though. I like bubbly pickups, but this one may be TOO bubbly.

I prefer the KT77s as well.

I'm interested in your choice of pickups. Can you give me a different description of your opinion of the Jazz. I'm not sure I'm clear on what you mean by "bubbly". It would be much appreciated. Thanks!

If the Jazz is a little bright or bubbly, try a Dimarzio 36th PAF in the neck. My current fave in the neck by a longshot.

Best way I can explain it is that the notes have a lot of "bounce" to them, and are quite bright. It's not a bad thing, but it isn't ideal for every playing style. I do a lot of studio stuff and Ilike pickups to be really versatile, and for me, the Jazz is just more suited towards Blues, Jazz, and Classic Rock. I know a lot of metal guys use it and what not as well, but it just isn't for me, I think.

I have tried that pup, and I did love it. I've honestly tried almost every single Dimarzio there is, so I'm trying to do the same with Duncan. Just making the rounds.
