I have heard a number of folks wax poetically online about the beauty of Sapphire Black. The trouble is, every time I see a picture of one, it looks like a kind of dull, almost waxy, nondescript, blue.

What am I missing in pictures that comprises the "me want" goodness in real life?

I had a Bongo in both Sapphire Black and Stealth. Like the Stealth way better. More mojo. Next is the Black Sugar Roasted BFR Bongo, let's see how that black looks.

It takes on different shades depending on the lighting.
I love it! It's a great colour.

Well, I don't have a very high opinion sorry. I bought a Stingray in SB earlier this year. Not because I loved the color. It had great tone and fretboard. Currently it's being re-painted Ferrari red. It's probably fine for most, but to me it was just not quite black. Which was weird to me. Dark grey just didn't do it.
