Basically ... the Silhouette is 24 frets and HSH. The Special is 22 and either SSS or SSH. Both are alder and share similar options (colour, peizo, trem, etc.)

The neck profiles are slightly different, so you'd be best to play both and see how they suit you.

Congrats on the pending purchase and looking at what I think is on of the most under-rated guitars in the industry. If you want something to offer very different sounds from your JP6, I'd say the Silo Special in either HSS or SSS would be the way to go. You can get some wonderful clean tones from the Silo Special. I love my Silo Special...fits like a glove and sounds fantastic.

If you're thinking of the SSS, you may want to also consider an AL.

I haven't tried an AL HH yet. I hear nothing but good things tough. I am actually interested in either buying an AL HH or possibly a Reflex this year.

If you can, try them both out.
They're quite different guitars even though they're Silhouettes and look similar.

the tonal options of the HSH are through the roof... if you added Piezo then you've just gone to a whole new level...
but this is like asking someone which they should get... a BMW 5 series or a BMW 3 Series... obviously very classy either way you go but you have to drive them both at some point...
try to get a Spec and a Standard and let your ears decide... either way you'll love it but try to test drive first...

These pics are over a year old. Ive made some more mods since then. Mods are listed in my sig. Silos are awesome guitars. They play SO well. Its my Go-To guitar. Ive owned over 80 different guitars over the years, and this one is my favorite.
