Love this bass. Got it when I was 16, so I've had it for going on 17 years now. Of all the basses I've owned/traded/etc. this is the only constant over all those years.

BTW, Chuck, love that bass!

Say what you will about Mark Hoppus, but I really, really like his baby blue SR4H with the rosewood board, white pearloid pickguard, and unpainted headstock. Too bad he doesn't play StingRays anymore.

I have owned a bunch of Rays but the 30th was the one that stayed with me all this time. I often wonder what the Mahog body would sound like paired with a 2 band. JOSH

I wonder the very same thing. There are times I struggle with the aggressive mids on mine.

I tried a 2 band EQ in my 30th but found the Mahogany made it sound a bit muddy. The 3 band is a perfect match.

The roasted necks are beautiful and if it had the 7.5 radius like my Classic 4 that would be great.

Then I'd like to try that with a H/S or HH. If that could be done with a 2 band EQ (I know it's not available) that would be great too. And the ability to split the coils and series/parallel.:D

Come to think of it, my favorite Stingray might end up being a Big Al.:D

Brad, are you the owner of that fine instrument?

Yep, I kept looking at the HH SRs on GC's site and couldn't resist in the end. Should be here early next week.
Very smart idea for GC to put all those great pics up on the net, or I wouldn't have known it existed in Atlanta.

here's mine, to compliment Honey Ray:

(yes, I know this one doesnt exist in nature...)

Stingray 5 Classic in black. black PB, black pickup.
Contoured body
roasted neck with a maple board.
3 way PU coil selector (like the standard 5H)

i love the look of the classic, but i want a roasty :( oh, and the switch.

That one was in the mailer too, wasn't it?

I heard people talking about one of the turquoise pearl Rays in a mailer from GC but I somehow never saw that one. I found it because someone here posted a link to one like it and at the bottom of the page it had a button that said "See all others like this". I started comparing all of them and was quickly lost!

It really depends on the job for me. They all sound so different. It has gotten to a point where I will have a particular guitarist in town ask me to play X one because of the growl that it has, or Y because it has a more rounded tone. That is what I love about these. Sure there is that iconic sound, but then each one has a subtle difference. This really comes out when you record with them. This is part of the fun for me, trying to snag up that special one that has some different mojo. The colors are cool believe me, but I get more excited when I find one with a different voicing subtlety.
