That neck is killer, Keith. Don't know why but I never thought you would have liked a JP. Glad you do though. That are great guitars.

P.S. When did you get a Mesa transatlantic? How do you like it?

Just picked one of the black sugars (JP6) up 2 nights ago. after previously owning an earlier model JP6 which I regrettably sold. man it plays so good, can't believe what an improvement these pickups have over the configuration in the older JP6 which seemed very harsh at times. could be the tone block?? this is the perfect neck shape for me as well, after coming from years of playing super thin Ibanez wizard or Jem necks has taken it's toll on my wrist. my only gripe would be that I liked the feel of the unfinished neck better, otherwise this is a near perfect guitar!

Wait?!

I thought all roasted were black sugar?!

What gives?

Fing got a special one. He's a lucky dog!

Although, I did play a roasted a little bit yesterday (not for long) and the neck definitely feels sticky compared to the regular painted BFR JPs (which don't feel sticky at all). Can anyone confirm that they are finished differently or was I imagining it?

That neck is stunning.....Is this finally the keeper Fing?

Yes it is my friend:)

Always liked JP's and this one could be model XYZ and I wouldnt care, this axe is the perfect combo of feel, weight, tone, etc. the action is super, super low with out any fret buzz and the roasted neck is silky smooth and easy to play plus no fret sprout!

I picked up the TA January 3rd, went in to get a Marshall of some sort to compliment my Tweaker, but once I tried the TA it was all over, sold my tweaker now just use this one versatile and killer tones, could not be happier with my set up right now!:D

Jack,

You have been sleeping too much my friend:p:)

I have had this since last October it is a once off made for the Arlington Guitar show to let the masses see what roasted was about and well I happened to be in the right place at the right time.

Plus now beside black sugar on the guitar side there is the GC Turquiose Peral and on the bass side, Turquiose Pearl and a killer roasted Honeyburst:cool: Cool Huh!!

Eric, I haven't noticed that. The finished necks all feel the same to me and I haven't noticed anything "sticky" about the roasteds.

Ok, was definitely just me then! Like I said, I only played it for about 5 minutes at The Perfect Guitar here by my house and had to get back to work, although I really didn't want to! Haha!

I guess to each his own, I noticed a big difference and prefer the unfinished neck, but it wouldn't take much getting used to

Keith......I can't keep up. I do remember the silver Luke you've got up for sale because.....well.....you told me about it when it was still a secret to the forum, right around the time we spotted that dargie green camaro. I guess I only remember the ones that I want.....the BFR Al, the purple (curse that Canadian) Reflex.....

You are correct in that there is a difference in feel between finished and unfinished necks. Eric's question was if the finish on the roasted maple was the same as the finish on the BFR JP models, which it is.
