Update:
The buyer wrote me that he has nothing to do with it and that it must be the driver´s fault. And he will send me the 700 Euro asap! Weird!? If something like this would happen to you would you send the seller another 700 without discussion if you are not guilty??
hope you get your money, and definitely take this to the fraud prevention dept at your local poilce and let them look into it. It sucks that the cops didn't even bother and just wrote you off just because these guys claim they're from Hungary.

Let us know how it turns out. Hopefully the buyer does the right thing, as he said he would. Maybe it was indeed the driver. I wouldn't cut him up too badly online until you get your money (or don't after a reasonable time).

Well lets wait and see if he sends you the other 700, it may be he is cashed up and on the level and wants to keep a good name-strange but possible.I say that because you were still able to contact him, and on a scam like that everything is usually changed already. The reason I asked how good the bills were is because it would be easier to fool someone with all the bills being counterfeit then having them mixed, as when you count something will usually catch your eye, though I would guess they were done good.Good Luck.

I once sold a pc cabinet on ebay for just 12,50€. The buyer picked it up and gave me 2€ coin which looked like one but was from a different country. So he made a bank transfer of 2€ because he had not more money with hom. I hope it ends well for you..Good Luck

Got the money!
Arrived today on my account!

Man, what a weird story. Buyer still pretends that he has nothing do do with it. But then again. If you buy something and the seller tells you that the money was counterfeit would you pay him immediately again without discussion??

I hate that guys like that now have my Petrucci which was a great guitar.

Good to hear you got your money, that's great.
There's no way the guy doesn't know about the counterfeit. he simply got caught! So he coughed up the money right in fear of the authority going after him.

I am seriously going to side with the buyer on this and believe he did not know the bills were bad. Just for a minute picture the guy is well off and you never mentioned his online account, but would like to keep it good. I mean he paid you faster than PayPal would of. Also guys who scam like this 85% of the time would shut down their account and change their numbers and you would not even be able to get in touch with them again. As far as the law goes lets face it it would be your word against his and he could say you were trying to scam him as he sent you all good bills, now how do you prove he did not. Also you were the one that walked in the bank with them in your possession. Unless he was involved in a a ring of extraordinary magnitude in which case he would not be using 7 bills on a guitar and would be---------

Okay my masters in street smarts is going a little to deep lol, Everyone can choose their own opinion on the issue, I think you dealt with a straight guy who did the right thing and squared up with you. I do get a great laugh over the odd email I get over the years from the guy or girl who has 250 million in an overseas account and for use of my name and social and a loan of 5K has 25 million for me when he picks it up lmfao.

I don't think the person would have replied to you if they were trying to scam you. I don't think they knew those bills were fake. Just my thoughts on this. Glad you got your money though. That is the main thing. Sucks you had to go through this. Also, thank you for reminding the rest of us to watch out when we do any type of transaction.

Yeah. Just sold a bogner and the guy paid cash, too. I watched the bills for about 10 minutes from every side!

That is awful! So sorry to hear that. I friend of mine sold a drumkit once and one of the bills was counterfeit. :(
