I have been a bass player for 33 years and I have had a little bit of everything, GK, Fender, Peavey, Ampeg, Carvin, Mark Bass, even Trace stuff, and in the day even ran pre-amps with monster power supplies in the late 80's. Personally I have taken a step in a direction that some bass players eventually take, try an Ashdown. Amazing tone, and warmth, but most important, thunder. When you feel the bass, you play better, and whether your playing at low volume or kicking it in, it thunders. Many other bass players have come to me just to hear it and try their basses thru it. And now that I have coupled this with my MM Sterling 5, all I can say is I now have a bass that can really make this thing bark. (Try one you won't go wrong) Amazing tone especially for slapping.

I've had some major turnover in the rig department during the past 2 weeks. Outgoing were my Ampeg SVT 7 Pro and Markbass LM800. Incoming were a Traynor YBA-200 and a Genz Benz Streamliner 900 .....

How do you like the Traynor, Mark? I had one, but sold it because it was too much amp for the single 12" cab I had at the time.

I'm loving it. I used to own a V4BH but found 100 watts of tube power wasn't enough for me. The Traynor, on the other hand has plenty of power on tap. At 42lbs it's a winner.

Oh, good to know. What can you say about the streamliner?

I really consider to get one but want to get some player opinions first. Does it really delivers that 900 Watts? I experienced some kind of power drop with the shuttle 6.0 when pushing it constantly.

Isn't the Streamliner amazing? I got mine this past week, but wating on the Uber Quad to arrive on Friday. I have been listening through headphones for the time being, but can't WAIT to crank it!

Ok, here's my short review after 2 hours with headphones last night (the missus was having a catch up marathon on the Tivo, and the kids were in bed). Actually, headphones were probably the ideal introduction to this head - the Streamliner sounds lovely and tubey warm like a top quality studio preamp, such as an Avalon, but with the added ability to dial in as much grit as you like with the gain and preamp controls. And the EQ is dead easy to tinker with, since it's just bass/mid/treble - no bright or presence switches, no parametric bullsh!t, no low boost buttons etc. No bells and whistles, as they are simply not needed to get a good tone out of this baby!

I can make this sound like a B-15 or an overdriven SVT by merely adjusting two or three knobs. I can't wait to open up this 900 watt beast into a big cab at rehearsal or a gig soon.

It has a 1/4" headphone out, a tuner out, and an aux in, so you can practice with decent headphones and your mp3 player, and be able to control the volume independently - use the preamp volume to control the overall bass volume level, and the master volume to set the mp3 player at a suitable volume.

And, the front panel looks very cool when the tubes are warmed up - the three tubes sit right behind the see through part of the panel.
