Again I was hit by the strat G.A.S (maybe 'cause I've listened Biffy Clyro for last two months), but after testing different stratocasters in local guitar stores I found the cure: I went home and plugged my JP6 to axe-fx and just started to play:

That's close enough for me at the moment, I'll manage with that until I can afford Silhouette...

After buying my SS I sold my Strat. Once in a while I'll pick up one at a music store or play a friend's Strat that is really nice, but I think overall the SS still fits me better.

I have a Silo that was my first Ball and replaced a Strat for me. Strats will always be a classic, but the feel and sound of my Silo outweighed that factor by far.

David I agree, an Albert Lee SSS works for me on the single coil front, as does my Sport SSS...but I still added a CS Strat into the mix (self confessed gear whore that I am!)

I just am going in reverse as the 8 Balls I own at present are all hum bucking guitars, and for single coils I have my Strats and Teles. Well last week in the store I stay in the RM/BS guitar order came in and one of the teachers ordered a SS and that was the first time I ever even held one, let alone he had to just about pry it from my hands. Damn you EBMM lol.

Id say that Simon Neil tone can be achieved with an AL, or maybe a Silhouette. But a small part of thinks that he has that classic strat tone that may only be possible with a strat, but you should be close with either two EBMM's. He certainly has some nice tones going on.

Strat GAS is sometimes overwhelming... I seem to have it every late winter and this year I over came it with a Tele.. LOL

After getting my Silo30 I wanted to sell my Mex Strat which had been my main guitar. The strat however is a limited run orange sparkle I picked up last April so I have to wait to sell until they at least run out of them in stores so I can get something decent for it.
