yep is true!
30 min ago I pick-ed it up , run home from work , played it for 10 min, and now back to work in my office :p
Keith packed it up fabulous and the guitar looks dead mint as he described it (thank you Keith) :D
so I only had 5 min of playing on clean channel , 5 min on drive channel...I like the sound, but when I saw the V shape neck I was already sweating and I grabbed it being very anxious to feel it...hmmmmm, you guys were right it may be "a love or hate thing" about this neck.
I'll take the time to get used to this profile, but first impression was "OK, crystal clear now, I'm a JP guy LOL "

can't wait to go home an play it, I'm counting every second :D, I have 4 hours left until I leave the work place.
Pics soon

Paolo - I was a JP guy too until I got my first Luke. Now I like them both. I don't have any trouble switching back and forth. Congrats, and good luck!

I agree, the JP is so easy to play and the Luke you have to work a little harder with (not much more) but is such a rewarding guitar!

Congrats! You'll get used to the neck, though. And then you won't play anything else :D

thank you very much knuckleheads for the kind words and thoughts :)

so yesterday I ran home from work and plugged in the sterling beauty :p
It was an exhausting afternoon LOL, I opened a bottle of red dry good wine and started the "first date" , well actually it would be great if every first date could take place at my home LOL

I had to tweak a little bit the setup, truss rod, lowered the saddles, I put the Dimarzio cliplocks on - and they are great, they are not damaging the finish, I kept the original screw and washer that were on the guitar...

and after all those steps the date with the american shining young and barely (legal lol) touched miss began.
let me tell you guys that I always loved the single coil clean sound and after joining this forum and bought my first MM (the JP) I always dreamed of a MM guitar with a single coil in neck position. I thought the day will come when I'll buy an AL or SILO, and never planned this luke in such short time after the JP came.
but I saw it and I thought what the hell if I can get a good price maybe I love it after LOL

so after the first day:
1. I love the clean sound on the neck pick up
2. I like the bridge pick up on the drive channel , although is not that aggressive like the D sonic on my JP is nice for hard 'n' heavy stuff and why not even for some heavier rock riffs
3. I like the neck and middle + bridge position on drive channel for solos, great tones. I've noticed that in this second position (S+H) if I lower a bit the tone knob you can have a great solo tone, same on the neck.
4. it still feels strange this V shape neck
5. I'll have to get used to the bridge also, case now I can't pull the tremolo bar like on the JP, because the Luke bridge is set to rest on the guitar body
6. the 9's feel fluffy now, compared to the 10's on my JP, easier to bend but when I pick they vibrate harder , I'll have to adept the picking and riff-ing, or switch them to 10's - the only concern is the nut slots, I don't want to mess them , and then not be able to come back to 9's

pics will come soon (until then some pics Sweat took when the girl was not european yet :D), but I have just the phone camera and yesterday it rained here.I hope for sunny days in weekend and I'll get a decent camera to shoot some photos :p the guitar looks 100 times better than in the pics, it is a hard color to catch on camera

PS: after the wine I woke up at 4.40 am to go to the bathroom and when I came back I said what the hell let's plug in a little the Luke on clean channel to hear that neck pick up  so I got back to bed at 6.30 am only to woke up again at 7 am to go work  PGLUKE1.jpg PGLUKE2.jpg PGLUKE4.jpg

Congrats Paolo, this one's really a stunner! I'm sure you'll get used to the neck in no time and the trem can be set to float in no time.

Congrats on your new guitar. I'm sure it really looks stunning in the flesh.
You could easily set the trem to float like it is on the non piezo luke guitars but it is not recommended for the piezo equipped ones due to the loss of string pressure on the saddles. As far as I know that's the reason why your guitar was set up at the factory the way it is now.
Changing string gauge from 9's to 10's should not be a big problem though. Just tighten the trem claw a little or insert another spring. Maybe a little truss rod tweak or adjustment of the intonation is needed afterwards, but not neccessarily. Give it a little time after string change before you start tweaking.

Cheers,
Mikey

Congrats on the LUKE! And I will also confirm that there is NO issue going to 10s and also floating the bridge even if it is with a piezo system. I have a Silo Special with the piezo and I have it set up to float and have no problems whatsoever. And I also have 10s on her without any issues to the nut. All you have to do is put 3 springs in and adjust the trem claw to how you like.

Thank you Keith and all the guys for the nice words, sorry for my late reply.
I had no time to take some pics, but...now... I give you the Sterling Luke :p

a few Questions/Observations:
1. for Drop D tunning , is it necessary to have some adjustments done ? (springs, neck relief, etc) I tried and I saw that with no adjustments it stay pretty good in tune , the E strings goes a bit sharp , but that is natural cause is going from D to D #, the string is "remembering" its previous state (E tunning)
2. I've noticed that compared to the JP on the same setting the piezo on the JP is much louder and powerful than the piezo on the Luke, anyone else noticed that?
