Bongo question?

Been playing my Bongo's for a few months now and still love them but I'm assuming that due to the 18 volt active pickups, this makes the bass much louder than my other basses with active pickups. Even my other Music Man basses. The difference in volume is quite a bit too. If I want to play other basses at a show with my Bongos, then to keep the levels the same, I'm going to have to turn the Bongo's volume at the bass way down. Do any of you guys know of any other things that I can do so all of my basses havea similar level no matter which one I play?

Ok the reason is probably that you have the four bands boosted...I have posted many times that with all of our basses it is not necessary to turnthem up to ten back the volume down then you have someplace to go if you need it...there is not high freq loss when you lower the volume pot

hrhrhrhr, yesterday I pluged the Bongo into a cheap china Hiwatt transistor combo (looks nice, sounds not so nice) .. I had to turn the low und mid low a little down.. not to put the internal speaker also in a weepy touchy feely mood

You can set the basses' individual vol knobs and control output via volume pedal. EB's has a tuner out also which is a nice touch.

Set the input gain on the amp and note down the level? If you had an RH450/750 you could have a preset set up for the Bongo

I didn't even think about that. I do have to admit that I have everything boosted. I will try turning down the four bands and then see if that helps.

Yeah that's probably it. The preamp in the Bongo is SUPER powerful.

Or, what I think BP was getting at is..... you could leave the EQ where you have it now - assuming you like it there - but just turn the volume knob down a bit to bring it down to the same volume as your other basses. As he said....You won't lose highs or change the tone of the bass by turning the volume down (unlike what would typically happen if you were playing an instrument with passive electronics).

I'm not sure how you do this, but I always run the Bongo through the active input on my amp - my 'Rays are always run through the passive input (my amp has a VU meter so I can see what's going on with the input - the Bongo seems to send the thing into the red much easier than the 'Rays - even set flat - I guess the extra power does this)
