I'll go first:

Strutter - Kiss

Gene was a huge influence on my bass playing when I was a 13 year old kid. I even did his bass slides, though I may have used them a little TOO much. :)

If this has been asked before please close this, but I did try to search this topic.

Think mine was either:
Smells like teen spirit - Nirvana
or
Seven nation army - White stripes

House of the Rising Sun, then I moved on to The Joker. My first semi-difficult song (at least for a beginner) was Sweet Child O Mine.

Ray Charles, "What'd I Say".

srsly

I was in a furniture store yesterday and that was playing on the PA, along with about half my band's set list. I reflected on how great it still sounds....

... and also on the staying power of all those great old R&B and soul songs. I Got a Woman (the actual name of the track) was released in 1954... 57 years ago.

I wonder if they'll be playing Smells Like Teen Spirit in public in 2048, 57 years after its introduction. Somehow I kind of doubt it.

With the exception of some licks...

"I Was Made To Love Her" - Stevie Wonder (from the book: Standing in the shadows of Motown)

My memories fade that far back but I seem to remember bashing away on Hey Joe and thinking I was The Man when I was able to show my mates how to play it....those were the days....
