First, let me say I don't know how you guys that order basses and wait months for them do it. The week or so I waited for this one was excruciating!

Just got the beautiful roasted Big Al 5SSS shown in is thread:

FS: MusicMan Big Al 5-SSS, Roasted Maple BFR Package - TalkBass Forums

I wasn't a fan of the Big Al look a few months ago, but like the Bongo, it really grew on me. This may be the most beautiful bass I've ever seen. The sparkle is very subtle.

I haven't played with too many of the settings so far, but I LOVE all buttons up in serial both active and passive. Love the passive tone, which is the big reason I went with the Big Al. And the middle PU in passive (P-bass mode) sounds killer, too.

Big B string, too. Absolutely love this bass! Big thanks to projectapollo for the sale, and to Big Poppa and crew for crafting such a fine instrument. This is exactly what I've been looking for.

Can't wait for band rehearsal tomorrow night to hear how it sits in the mix.

Woo hoo! Glad to be in the Big Al club!

Us who are waiting for our Game Changers are just waiting to hear when they'll be shipped out! I was reading through the Game Changer question thread a few days ago and saw where BP said they would be shipped out late April to early May, oh how I wish!

Anyways, cool bass. Roasted necks are awesome.

Congrats! I hear ya on the series mode! I can't get enough of that setting and the "P bass" mode. Such a flexible machine. Neck pup doesn't sound half bad either.

That much better than the ray? Wow... I'd just say they are different animals, I probably would still grab my sterling for an aggressive rock cover band... but mine's not in yet :)
Enjoy bro!

Don't get me wrong, the ray kicks butt. But the Big Al has more options. We play a lot of styles, so switching from active to passive is huge. They are definitely different animals, but awesome in their own way. Big Al will fit my needs. And I doubt I'll part with my stingray. It's why I bought EBMM in the first place. :)
