...to wander over to the parts and accessories counter and get some knobs for that brand new bass hanging on the wall? Really.

That's disgraceful. Someone should be doing something about that.

I remember a number of years ago walking into a music store and finding a Sterling 4 HS with a tone knob missing, and somehow still priced as being brand new.

If they had time to steal the knobs, then I doubt there's a single bass with a battery there.

They're just disassembling it one part at a time. Then once they get all of the parts stolen, they will reassemble the bass complete back at their house. This way is much less suspicious...

I'd prefer to have such a selection of knobless balls to the ballless walls of music stores around here...

A couple of theories:-

1) The shop takes off the knobs so they can't be bent or stolen..........

2) Some people are so used to passive basses which basically have an on/off switch/switches (volume knob(s) which is either on or off basically) and an alleged tone knob which does very little - if the knobs were on that bass it might confuse such people by having a fully functioning EQ to set you own tone.

But alas I guess the shop doesn't keep an eye on their stock and its condition is the reality.

Love the basses though - nice colours - is that a Dargie 2?
