Hello everybody,
today i bought my first music man, the jp6 :D

i have been after one of these for a long time, so i cant quite believe i have one now :p

i bought it second hand in a part ex for a tidy price considering its condition.
its not the best example atm but with a bit of tlc it'll look almost new :)

anyways, i have a couple questions for you guys:

the pickups are actually rusty  (last owner must of been quite the sweaty one)
it sounds like it might be affecting the tone, am i right ? is there any way i could clean them up ?

the neck was pretty filthy. i have cleaned it with some jim dunlop spray which has helped but i need something a bit stronger. any recommendations ?

what can i use to protect the neck still keep it really fast ?

could someone give me the DOB of my jp6 ? serial No. is G26918

i look forward to participating in this great forum :)

Welcome! I love my JP6 PRB. The sound, the feel, the workmanship, the appearance... I could go on and on. Just a great guitar.

yeah im really liking this guitar, even in its current state. (needs a setup, trem doesnt hold tuning if used, neck needs shimming). i know that once my luthier goes to work on it, it'll be back to its former glory.

one thing i can say though is that im sort of disappointed with the AN & SS pickups. not as crunchy as i was expecting, theyre not as hot as i thought theyd be, and the SS was surprisingly fat. perhaps the electrics are in need of a going over. can anyone comment on that ?

i have a mark4 and i cant seem to get petrucci's tone down to a tee with the jp6. my prs actually seems to do a slightly better job with the bridge pup sound.
