So for some reason aka random gas. I have been thinking about MM90s. I noticed that all the EBMM models that use the MM90's are made of ash. What's up with that? I mean not criticism of of EB at all as I know nothing about p90 style pups I am just wondering what is the connection between them and ash.

My guess would be that the MM90's were determined to sound better with an Ash body. I had a Sport with MM90's way back when and it sounded amazing so you won't hear me complain... well, unless its about selling it off.

Wow,

I didn't even know. Still sounds & plays great. Not a moment goes by on the forum that I don't learn something(and feel like a dork for not knowing).

As I mentioned I am not complaining and yes they have all always been that way but why? Is it like and unspoken given the 90s and ash is where the tone is at

Yep. Ash body + MM90s is a fantastic combination. Beautiful cleans, lots of raunch when you crank 'er up.

I think it would be cool if they did some Axis and Axis Super Sports with Ash Bodies and humbuckers... oh wait, I have a Sport and it is one of the best sounding guitars I have ever owned.

Banjo as I mentioned above. Th A.S.S. with MM90's is made of ash not basswood and has a maple top. In the case of yours it is made of Ash and has a RW top and has an all RW neck.

HEy Brokenvail, I admit it´s not mine :-( I stole the pic
Are u sure this is also the case for this (i thought) solid Rosewood Axe? Above your answer refers to an BFR ASS...

Yes I am. The RW A.S.S. is not solid RW. It is just like the regular A.S.S. except with an RW top instead of maple. This is from the EB site:

Body Wood:Humbucking - Basswood with bookmatched figured maple top.
MM90 - Ash with bookmatched figured maple top

Top Bottom
