Any reason for the switch to the bigger fret dots?

I've noticed that most of the newer instruments have the larger fret dots, any reason for the change? I've always liked/preferred the small fret dots.

World wide small dot shortage. Days are numbered. Hold on to them if you've got em.

The marketing department of Ernie Ball has computed some serious statistic data on the average guitar buyer.
Young player can afford only cheap guitars, thus no Music Man for them.
Older player can afford Music Man but their old age makes them short-sighted ... thus they need larger dot.

small dots for me, i think the big dots make the fretboard look cluttered.

I think only the Reflex and the Albert Lee HH have the big dots.

At first I was dead set against them, to me the small dots are as iconic to MM guitars as the tuner layout. Now I have both a Reflex and an Albert Lee HH it doesnt really seem as big a deal as they are both outstanding guitars.

But if theres a vote, I vote small dots!!!

SO, if small dots = Music Man, then what does that make my HH AL? Something else??? :(

I'll tell you what it is - a frickin' tone monster! When I'm playing live and kicking' @ss, the last thing I'm worried about is how big my fret markers are!

It's not the size of the dot matters, it's how you use it that counts.
