So yesterday my band, Minds Eye, was part of the entertainment along the course of the 2011 San Antonio Rock 'N Roll Marathon. Susan G Komen was the sponsor and as we are a supporter of Komen, we were fortunate enough to play on their stage. There were 30,000 or so participants in the marathon and we played for them all as they ran by! It was truly an awesome experience!! :D

Thanks digitalpig! It was really fun to get off the stage and interact with the runners as they went by (as long as we didn't get in their way). Quite a few stopped to take photos of themselves in front of the stage or with us while we played off the stage. It was very cool! :D

great fun!
I did a similar gig twice: Einstein Marathon in Ulm (Ger) with ~10.000 participants. That´s a really funny and great atmosphere.
2010 was good weather

Thanks Keith!! It was really fun!! :D
I was actually surprised to find out that they pay the bands for participating in the marathon. We certainly did not expect to be paid and we agreed do donate all of our proceeds back to Susan G Komen. When I asked the organizers if they could just make our check out to Komen for the Cure, they said we were the first band to ever ask to give the money back. I was shocked at that comment.
