Having now spent a month or so with my Reflex, all I can say is what a great guitar!!!
The series paralel switch is just a stroke of genius. So many options and a Boogie MKIV, I can get about any sound I need.
One of the down sides for a lot of folks that have a Boggie MKIV is that Ch. 2 is not all that great, and there is (was) some truth to that but, the reflex has now given me so many options, that Ch 2 is just wonderful. Because the pup's are so hot, I've been able to turn down the gain a lot, so the amp is now much more articulate.
Upon re-reading my post, I realize a comparison between the Silo and the Reflex may appear to be a ridiculous question... allow me clarify.
My first EBMM was an Axis. Emerald green, quilt top, birds eye maple neck... I loved that guitar! Eight years later I picked up a Silo because I needed a guitar that was a little more versatile as well as more comfortable (I would literally bruise my forearm on the non-contoured body of the Axis). I slowly began to prefer the Silo. Now, after a pickup change in the Silo, the Axis almost never gets played. However, I prefer the sound of direct-mounted pickups and I've been wanting to tryout a Reflex for a while. Just curious if it really is what I think it appears to be... a cross between the Axis and Silo... my dream guitar.
