Agree - if this is infact true. All this random play/100000000songs on the mp3 player thing is something I've enjoyed.....but it leaves you a little empty. I know how much time I've put into deciding the order of songs, how many, - and have even written songs to go with the 'flow' of an album (sorry - CD....I mean playlist....or is it 'release?').

I have a question for ya'll:
How many of you tend to listen to a release, in the order the songs are listed as decided by the Artist - when using a digital media player (i.e. Mp3, Mp4, etc - but not a physical CD)?

Report: CDs are officially over | TG Daily

I am very saddened by this, I strongly prefer buying a physical medium for music than some download, i like cover and book art and disc art.

RIP CD

Are there still Major Record Labels around, gee who knew. I predict those labels will be dead before CD's are. CD's will still be available for a couple more years.

I do prefer to buy CD's than use Itunes or any program like that, i like to look at the booklet while listening to the music.

CDs won't die I don't think, they'll just become collectors items like vinyl. Who would have thought that vinyl would have a mini-resurgence nearly 30 years after CDs first appeared?

Seems as good a time as any to make my introduction. I really really really hope this isn't true. I own over 900 albums on vinyl, cassette, and cd, and have never purchased a song on itunes. I can't risk losing my entire music collection to a faulty external hard drive or something like that. I have an iPod for when I go out, but I rip all my cds onto that. I'm already having difficulty finding cds. I don't want it to get harder.

Yeah, and everyone will listen to that wonderful 24 bit glory on the crappiest little earbuds that came free with their telephone. :(

But they'll listen to it at such volume, they'll blow all of their high frequency sensitivity right out of the window, so all will be good with the world!!!
