So I hit a GC today that I haven't been to in quite a long time. Low and behold what do I see hanging on the wall, a used gold roller with a roasted maple neck. It was in like new condition and played great. They were asking $1999 for it. Not sure if the original case was included or what shape it was in. Is this a don't pass it up type of deal?

Also, I'm used to playing the bare rosewood neck on my JP so the finish on the roasted maple neck seemed pretty sticky to me. Is this normal?

I think that is a pretty good deal. I don't think there were that many made and they were a premium guitar when new.

I love mine, it's the lightest guitar I have and is a blast to play. Plus the gold hardware up against that black sugar paint is really striking.......

Roasted with a normal GR finish wasn't a production model and likely from a guitar show. A rare one that is.

The Gold Roller with roasted maple neck is one of those models that are exclusive to Guitar Center...I just took a look at their "Platinum" site and there still are a few available...but they're rare nevertheless and look fantastic!

Judging by the price they cost new I'd say it's not too bad a deal if the case is included :)
