Hi all..havent posted here for a while...Have just taken possession of a 78 Stingray...It's in great shape but missing the string mute thumb screws....

Where could I source a set of (hopefully) original style thumb screws..I believe they are larger in diameter to the newer ones...If these cant be sourced readily can the newer version retro fit to this bass's bridge...

Are the threads the same etc....also can the mute pads be sourced...I'm in australia so I think there's little chance of obtaining them here....

If the originals can be sourced that would be great as I'm a bit of a stickler for originality....

You'd have to be as lucky as the winner of lotto to find original thumb screws.

The newer ones have the same thread and will fit.

Mute assemblies and screws are available from Ernie Ball.

Email Customer Service for the best way of ordering:

Thanks

You can make the "mute foam" from black mouse pad material which I've done in the past. Alternatively, email Customer Service. I believe you can obtain the whole spring mute assembly (with the mute pads attached) from them. They're used on the current Classic Series 'Ray.

I receive the bass next week. If the springs work fine I'll do a diy mute foam. Otherwise I'll contact the Customer Service.
Thank you for your quick answer.
