Happy New Year! May this year bring lots of cool music and drool-worth EBMM's.

BP, excuse me if this has question has been raised before.

What are the odds of EBMM introducing a mahogany/maple top + mahogany/rosewood neck guitar, eg. Axis or ASS in that wood combination? LP price/quality ratio's are ludicrous, and EBMM's quality/playability would blow any Gibby out of the water. I'd love to buy a lefty ASS in that wood combination. All the classic sounds, and none of the headaches associated with a LP.

These seem like two different topics so I'll comment on the topic I like. :)
I think a mahogany axis would be awesome!!! However, I think it would be a limited run for ebmm. As far as the other guys, they have the market sealed up so I think it would be hard to see ebmm do a consistent run of mahogany/maple axis. The other guys really get a lot of business based on name nostalgia... I have to agree with the subpar quality, but I won't go into the issues. Sometimes mm has to try to stay in their nitch just because we like it doesn't mean it will sell. To me the reflex is one of the best guitars on the market and I'm sure musicman thinks the same; however, I think it may have not met sales expectations. Anyways, maybe we will see a limited run... mm is generous when it comes to these ideas. They've done a lot of limited run axis(tribute, rosewood, blue dawn, redwood)... I'm sure there's more.

Have you considered a PRS? They used to make lefty guitars and the McCarty model was made to have a LP vibe. Thing about the Axis is that it's neck is a fair bit narrower than any LP I've played. Other than humbuckers, I don't find it to be terribly LP-like. I tend to consider it more of a postmodern Telecaster but maybe that's just me.

No, I've never been impressed by PRS. Their price/quality ratio is also way off the mark in my opinion. As far as the neck on the Axis - I'm not looking for a LP, just the wood combination that gives that midrange honk mahogany is famous for.

Hey Trem,

Get yourself an Axis/ASS BFR. Axis Super Sport BFR

The body isn't completely mahogany, but it does have what EBMM call a mahogany tone block. I don't have photos of what it looks like (someone will) The guitar essentially has a piece of mahogany that goes down the center of the guitar from the neck pocket to the bridge. These ones are tone monsters.

BFR's are not available for lefties that I know of, with one limited exception that I have seen: roasted maple neck bfr black sugar. I don't understand why the ASS BFR is not available for lefties, highly disappointing.

Can't comment on the lefty thing, but the AL HH is mahogany/RW with the same pickups as the Axis. It flat out smokes.

Sorry Trem, totally missed the fact you're a lefty. Yeah, it's too bad they aren't offered in the lefty version. I wish EBMM would offer the tone block on models other than BFR's.

Too bad about the "lefty" thing. The chambering coupled with mahogany tone block in my 25th makes for a tone machine. Lot's of LP players have reluctantly made the switch & found outstanding mahogany type tones.

I bought one for that very reason!!! I just can't play it! Trust me, I tried playing right-handed, that's how bad I wanted a 25th. I bought bkrumme's 25th. A real stunner, I tried for two days and back in the box it went... It's currently a painful reminder of how lefties don't have access to EBMM's mahogany tone machines.

In my experience, it's EBMM that's out of whack as far as quality/price. Pretty much anything else of comparable quality is more expensive (e.g., PRS). Carvin also delivers a lot of quality for the money but they don't have to support dealer overhead.

That's not exactly true. I'm left handed. I just play guitar like a normal person.

I have no idea what you are referring to. Are you telling me we can order EBMM guitars with mahogany tone block or body that are left handed? Do tell.
