The more I look at the schematics of the HSS vs the HH which I printed out today... the more I lean towards Keko's HH vs the HSS

Theres only ONE series on the HSS and thats the rear humbucker solo'd, problem is that its NOT in the sweet spot so I won't be using that option much at all. So you're pretty much in parallel all the time

My Bongo HH has the H in a similar spot as the HSS & its not that great solo'd either.

The ability to go parallel & series on a rear humbucker in the sweet spot with the HH is pretty awesome, same with doing that using coil 2&3 like Kekos recordings. Going series or parallel with all pickups vs just parallel on the HSS is also pretty clutch

Oh yeah, I want Kekos bass !

Sorry dude, ...this one is "never-seller"! :D

But You can order one just like mine, that's no problem, just visit Your local EBMM dealer, prepare some bucks :D ...and bass will arrive!

I just got my Silver Bongo HH 5 in today... damn its so fantastic I just can't justify it (Plus I don't play 5 too much)

I would absolutely buy a Reflex HH maple\white 4 string if the spacing was 17.5mm (Sterling), I play my Sterling all the time, favorite bass & great feel for me BUT it would be worth it to pony up for the reflex

OK guys, I have a few days off for a Winter Holidays so I've found some free time to record a 5 minute reflex 5 HH demo video.

Nothing special, just an amateur home video, bass was plugged direct into the PC sound card and lense was used from Panasonic camera.

First half is whole passive demo with preview of all 8 switching options, ...in a second half there's some fake Jaco's tone playing (well, ...I tried  ) ...and at the end is just a short sound check of active 4 band EQ.

I hope that now all potential reflex buyers will learn something new about EBMM reflex 5 HH basses:

If you like the electronics of the Reflex, passive tone control, selector switchable pickups, etc. i recommend you give a look at the Big Al SSS. I prefer it to the Reflex in tone options, visual appeal, and neck profile.

No way Pollo... Sterling HH has the Big Al SSS beat by a mile in my book! I really wanted to grab a Big Al but it was too similar to the Sterling to get me to jump. I need a 5er & its between the AWESOME silver Bongo HH I have or the Reflex HSS... although I would prefer the HH I believe.

The EBMM line all around is just fantastic right now

And here's a short reflex slap tone preview ;) :

Don't miss RX demo in my previous post from above! :)

Cheers,
Keko

Keko, your making it a lot harder not to grab one of those HSS 5'ers off of Amazon right now.

Great videos...

Yup, IMO... HH > HSS

Series vs Parallel options on the Bridge pickup in the right position? With a 4 band EQ or passive with tone? Massive.

I still want Keko's bass :)

I love my Sterling HH but if EBMM ever made a Reflex 4 String with 17.5mm spacing... I'd be all over it ;) The Sterling HH 4 string is my main bass & nothing is even close

Reflex HSS, Big Al SSS, nice basses but I guess I just prefer that bridge pickup in that location.

Kekos clips sealed the deal for me

For NAMM I'm hoping for a Reflex HH 4 stringer in 17.5mm?? Yah, Yah??? 4 band EQ, Series\Parallel Sterling? Yah Yah??? THEN I'll get crazy (I'm primarily a 4 string player)... but Keko... give me 2.5 days for the 5er okay?

Sorry to hear that dude,

enjoy Your Bongo! ;)

It's opposite in my case, reflex is in the stable, ...now I'm in a hunt for a rare special Bongo, Dargie, BFR or something like that, ...but I'm waiting for a NAMM to check first what's new?
Maybe I'll order one of regular models if pickup and color combo will fit to my needs!

Honestly Keko... I don't play 5 enough to place a big ticket order

If the Reflex HH 4 stringer came with a Sterling neck I would ABSOLUTELY pull the trigger. Unfortunately I only have the Sterling HH as the 1 bass that has the bridge pickup in the right position 17.5mm 4 banger
