Question JP Trem Set Up

Hello all,

I was wondering if there is a way to down tune my guitar (even from E to D) without having to adjust the tension on the back?

I would probably want to avoid putting on a tremel-no or a similar product just because I've heard conflicting opinions on their effectiveness.

I have a Tremel-no set up (not in a JP though) and it works perfectly. It's great for re-stringing too if you have a floating trem. Not sure what people were complaining about. Maybe there isn't a direct fit for EBMM?

Without something like a tremol-no, or an appropriately sized block of wood in the right place, the laws of physics say "No". With a floating trem, there is no way to reduce the total string tension keep the bridge level with the body at the same time without adjusting the springs.

My response is a little off topic, but I haven't had any problems either. Had a tremol-no on my JP6 years ago. I have one right now that I tried on my bfrs, worked perfectly. I removed it as I don't use the tremol-no anymore as I like the sound with the back plate attached. Plus I have multiple guitars for different tunings

+1 for the tremol-no, I added one on to my Dargie II JP6 a couple weeks ago, guitar feels/sounds more resonant, and it work flawlessly.

Interesting. I've read that the little thumb screws don't hold up very well.
I'm just looking for something that will allow me to change tunings.

I've had one on my RG550 for nearly 6 years or whenever they first started making them (actually have a prototype specifically made with an edge trem attachment instead of a clamp or pin...pretty cool) never had a problem with the set screw sever...the new one I haven;t had on very long, if you're a all worried I think a little teflon tape would ease your mind..

you could also block the trem if you aren't a whammy fanatic...

I am indeed not a whammy fanatic. If they made my JP in a stop tail version I would've gotten that one.
