I'll be in that line as well unless I find a good deal on a used JPX or JPXI.

There's a jpxi for sale for 2200 I believe in the forum. There was one for 2000 but it was snagged up quick!

You could buy a new one for around that right now with the 15% off that a certain retailer is offering. Just saying...

Which retailer? I see Musician's Friend has a 15% off deal but Music Man is excluded. Help! :)

Hard to say really. I would probably go for the nice amplifier. My next amplifier will definitely be the Mesa Mark V. Beautiful amp! One of the saddest days of my life was spending about a half hour jamming with a Mark V and having to leave the store without buying it.

I got the combo and love it. One thing that surprised me about it is that I can actually play it at bedroom levels too.

the mesa amps are expensive but are really very good sounding...i have enough budget money for jp12 only = no mesa amp or
sterling jp7 and a small mesa amp...............

Here's my take...

If you have a cheap amp it doesn't matter what guitar you play through it... it's not going to bring out the full potential of the amp and could taint the way you view the guitar.
If it were I in this situation i would pick up a good amp and maybe your current guitar would hold you over for the JP7 SBMM...
My vote is for the new amp
