They're an unbelievably good value for the price. There's one still on Guitar Center's site that was in that store when I bought mine.

wow Jack I feel kind of odd now that you have my guitar pics posted up here all naked and vulnerable! hee hee. Kidding. I was going to place some nice figured veneer I picked up on it but now I think I might try something else.

Don't laugh but I've been a fan of another type of guitar (but EBMM EVH's and Axis are still my favorite by far!) that uses FABRIC on the top, back and headstock. Fabric as in someone's curtains! So I might try that also and see what happens. I just have to find some time to experiment. Although the instrument plays great I think I want to create something different with it.

You know it might have worked in a worship band, it did have flowers after all...

i'm in a worship band and i've rocked some wicked looking guitars over the years... lots of sparkles and flash... but i always go back to my trans colors... 20th and Trans Black seem to be my go to colors right now...

Me too. I've used a stone finish Jackson, my highly modded Sub 1, and last week used the spaceball 3000....my 04 trans blue flame ASS.

Ongoing saga of Sterling AX20 redo

Hi again all,

I sanded off my AX20's RockStar graphics and found plain basswood underneath as others here have. On further inspection, I detected some flaws in the sanding sealer that I couldn't sand out without sanding off the whole top so everything would be even. I also saw that there were a couple of little spots along one seam where there was some black filler of some sort that had gotten down in and showed up as a couple of little black spots. On seeing these flaws, I decided to just freehand a sort of floral decoration with a can of black Rustoleum enamel I've had sitting around here for a while and borrowing my daughter's little plastic paint brushes. Figured I had nothing to loose at that point...

I'm attaching a photo of how the top looked right after the black enamel was put on. Not so hot I suppose, as the enamel dried out a bit on the grey side, sted of black. I've since clear-coated it with 2/3 of a can of satin MinWax spray polyurethane, and it has blackened the enamel nicely and ambered the basswood too. When I get the guitar put back together all the way, I'll try to include another pic.

Thanks, Mike
