Hi bass people,
Greetings from the guitar side of the forum. I made a drum and rhythm guitar track today but haven't laid down a bass line yet. I thought it might be fun to hear what people from the bass side of the EBMM forums might add as their interpretations. My recording isn't polished but if there's interest I may go back in. It would be great to hear a bunch of different people play. After recording a bass line, I'll take the track back to the guitar side of the forum and see if anyone would like to do a lead over it. That is unless one of you decides to let loose over the track.
Any takers?
Here's the backing track if anyone is interested.

Too bad I can't slap/pop worth beans. I can hear a great line in my head for that song. Very funky, man.

Thanks! I can't slap either but had an idea for an energetic non-slap line. Then I remembered that I generally suck at bass. :D

I like it. I'm going to try to do something, but I might not get to it until Wednesday. I wish you'd posted this on Friday--my wife has been out of town all weekend and the kid goes to sleep at 7pm. :D

Awesome! Hey man, I know what it's like. I did this today because my wife just let me have some time to record and the kids were out. :D
Take your time and most importantly, have fun with it. Thanks for joining in!

I just had a new to me Dargie 5HSp show up today. It has a fresh set of Slinkys on it. And, I have set of Cobalts waiting to go on this bass. So, I'm going to record something with the Slinkys and do another take with the Cobalts. We'll see how they are different sitting in the mix. I'm really glad you posted this--it'll be perfect for some examples of Cobalts vs Slinkys. I'll try not to get too Jack Bruce-y and leave some space for a guitar solo. ;)

If you have lines that you want to play, don't worry about a guitar solo. Make it a bass tune. Looking forward to hearing it!

I'll probably give it a shot too.

Awesome! Thanks!

very cool little riffage.......might I have a go.....?

I could figure it out but if you layed the chord progression out, that'd make it quicker

Hey thanks! You can absolutely have a go. The best part is hearing how others interpret the song as it completely transforms what I did into something else. Also, like I said earlier, if you guys have riffs that you have in your head, don't hold back. It doesn't need to have a guitar solo.

The technical notes are;
120 bpm
It starts out in B minor. Chords are Bm, G, A, and some others that I have to think about. :D I added a flatted root note (A#) for flavoring .
Thanks so much for joining in!

Thanks! I have no idea what that tune is so I'd love to hear your take on it. The only Motorhead tune that I know is "Ace of Spades." Shocking, right? :D

What bass line style do You really need on this track?

Finger style, slap, ...both (mix)..., simple?, complicated?, ...short soloing at 3rd quarter of the track..etc.?

Maybe I could give a try, to record my bass line playing in the mix. When (if) I do that, what should I do with new track, ...send it to You via an e-mail?

How much You will pay me for that job? :D (only joking)

Bye,

Keko

No problem. If you're happy with the mix, feel free to post it here.

This is strictly for fun so you're free to interpret the bass line however you think it should be. Maybe we should start a separate thread for the final mixes? This way your version won't get buried in a thread somewhere.
I will pay you many compliments. :p

acwild,

I made one bass line record over Your "Push" track, now what?

It's on my portable Mini-Disc Walkman, ...I'll convert it to mp3 tomorrow at work (don't have properly gear at home  ), ...should I send it to Your e-mail? I don't know much about uploading mp3 on the internet media services, so I'll leave it to You!

There are few slight mistakes, but 90% is OK (I'm too lazy to repeat  , next time will do better). This time is just for a test, OK?

If you want me to mix it, you can send it to my e-mail address (I'll pm you with it). If you want to mix it yourself, feel free to do it. I'd love to hear what you did.
