Oh wow. Can't see how anyone would shell out $2k for that.

With the fake decal, you just know someone down the line is going to try and pass that off as a real EVH.

I can see why. . . I'm just speechless. . . I want to say something, but I'm not usually the one to start throwing stones. . . anymore.

And that 'decal' looks awful...

I can't even see the post unless I have an account? Doesn't sound like it's worth it..

well $2k is reasonable considering there's a heavy duty deluxe gig bag being thrown in:) jokes aside, looks like a decent job of putting a guitar back together...

I don't really see what the big deal is to be honest? I have talked with Brent and inquired about this guitar when he had posted it in another thread on the GP. He explained to me right off the bat the history of the guitar and how he reassembled it, so I can say he is an honest man with nothing to hide. If someone wants to plunk down 2K for it that is their business and no one can tell someone what they should sell their gear for.

I know what some guys are thinking though and I can understand, that the next seller may not be so honest! All I can say to that is if someone is going to plunk down 5K or better for a guitar they should do their homework and know what they are doing. If someone has more money than brains and would layout that kind of scratch without running the serial number on the neck which would comeback as a Sterling, then the saying "a fool and his money are soon parted" would be aptly applied.

There are some good points here, I think the fact that he used a Sterling neck (no offense here) instead of a true Axis is what had my eyebrows really raised. I don't have anything against Brent, except that I d believe this price is off the charts since I just saw a TRUE EVH selling for $2200. The honesty in the assembly is all there, I just disagree with the logic in coming to that price and actually asking that type of coin.

It's a green EVH body with a Sterling neck (refinished to look like an EVH neck), different trem, pickups, etc. Looks like a nice job but only the body is original.

My only problem when people do these sorts of things is the decal. Those logos are EBMM trademarks, and it's not kosher to use them. When the fool parts ways with his money down the line, it will be because he bought an EBMM knock-off, and that hurts the brand.

Agreed. However its kinda easy to see that the H/S paint and decals are not original. The neck , and the job on the headstock make it a very difficult sale ....... especially at a price that you can get a nice clean 100% genuine EVH.
But thats just me ! Let the free market decide !

Lifeson totally agree with you about the price. There was a thread on the GP where he showed some of his guitars and the only EB he had was the green EVH. So I inquired about it and he told me it was a hybrid and then offered me the guitar for 2K. He is a nice guy on the boards and knows what he is talking about so I did not mock the price. But of course I was thinking what kind of idiot would spend 2K on a guitar where the body is the only part that is original. The guitar is also priced so high that it would be a big risk for someone that had bad intentions on their mind to buy.

Beej I totally agree with you on guys making EBMM decals to go on a neck that is not an EB.But I do not agree that if someone gets burned it makes the brand look bad as the company has not done anything dishonest, nor do they have any control with what someone does with a guitar after it is sold= Buyer Beware!

But the company can do something about it- that's whey they purse other companies that infringe on their trademarks.

So Mike, what if it's not Brent selling it, but a Chinese company making knock-offs? Is that ok because they usually look crappy? What if it's a US vendor making knock-offs that look great, with fake logos? In otherwords, when is it ok to violate a company's trademarks and make a product that's a copy of something legally protected?

I like Brent and have nothing against him, but here he's trying to make a profit on something that we'd all cry foul on if it were somebody else. I think it's wrong.

HE is being up front about it, but I can see the next person in line not being quite as forthcoming with the details. I can't tell, but it looks like there's no serial number on the neck plate, which I guess is the right thing to do and would make it more difficult for someone else to pass off as an original.

I think adding his own 'version' of the logo/decal is not cool. I might pay a grand for this--the neck is about the most important part of the guitar to me!
