Hey guys, I took the Pink Tribute out for her first gig performance yesterday and she performed wonderfully!! She stayed in tune,...played like butter...and sounded great through the PA.....I am sorry I didn't get a video...I also used the Axis SS BFR Thurs. nite with my piano, acoustic show and she also sounded great....I am just loving my Tributes and the Super Sports.....So all you Floyd haters....you may want to give the Tribute a second chance...It's not hard to deal with...I used to hate Floyd's too......I am now converted!! fyi....:D

I like to gig with my pink, well, any of my Axises really. They all perform like champs for me in a live situation. The pink one definitely draws attention and raises a few eyebrows considering that we're a hard rock band. I wear it loud and proud though.

I don't really understand the FR hate. I have 4 guitars with them. I barely ever use the trem at all and it doesn't have any negative effects on playability. I think it's more perception than anything else. I'm sure the AXIS is a monster live.

I will not say I hate floyd, I just find the vintage trem much more easier to setup and change string; I can change strings in less than 5 min with the vintage trem while on the Floyd rose equipped guitar I would say 20 mn (yes I'm slow guy also ahahahaha)

Great picture Tshow but aren't you playing with you back in the wrong side of the stage :)

Well a load of guys use them so they can't be all bad.

Why don't I use them?
- don't like the bulkiness of the unit.
- don't like it when a string breaks,as it throws the guitar out of tune and it takes longer to change a string.

So don't hate 'em but prefer not to use them.

Looking good! There seems to be a Floyd surge going on as this was a topic on the Gear Page and HC as well. I really believe that at least 1/3 of those who respond negatively never even owned a guitar with one and just go by what they read or heard. Of course a stop tail or regular trem is a lot easier and faster to change strings on, but it is not rocket science or that big an inconvenience to set up. Also if you work the bar hard nothing is going to keep you in tune like a Floyd, everyone should have at least one in there arsenal.

I am a big fan of T-Pink and an EVH/Axis without being bias is probably the wickedest looking pink guitar you can strap on. I get more Ooohs and Aahhs when I bring out the pink EVH than any other guitar I own.

@Spud

<BEGIN FLOYD ROSE DEFENSE>

Hey man, this is erroneous. When I break a string on any Floyd-equipped Axis or EVH, it stays 100% in tune. Because the Floyd is flush mounted to the body. I have broken strings dozens of times on stage and been able to finish the song without incident.

Your tuning goes crazy if (and only if) you have a FLOATING trem (whether that be a Floyd or any other floating trem). The JP models will go crazy, because they have a floating trem even though it's not a Floyd.

So, if you're playing a Silhouette with a floating Floyd (circa late '90s), or an Ibanez JEM with a floating Floyd, or a JP model with a floating JP trem, then yes it will go crazy because the bridge has less tension on it and it goes sharp. But this is not a Floyd Rose issue.

It's maybe a misconception because the double-locking Floyd trem lends itself to floating trem setups.

</END OF FLOYD ROSE DEFENSE>

Check out an Axis and you will see what you have been missing!

;)

Tshow - I feel for ya well not too much as I work for the British equiv of the IRS lol.

So the venue is Jeffs guitar gallery tshow, Jeff and Spud are sat together having a few beers and playing each others guitars - ahh that would be nice. Very soon the convo goes something like this ... "Hey Spud, remember your post on Tshow's thread when you were talking about the floyd?" Spud says "Yeah I remember, when I said I didn't like the mass of the floyd, going out of tune yada yada"
"So Spud - ever own a guitar with a floyd?" uhhhhh "No ... .... but my mate's guitar workshop has them there all the time. When they float they don't fit well with my guitar style - I rest my hand on the bridge and the damn thing goes out when it's floating. Have the same problem with my JP6" "Old dog - new tricks - man I find it hard to adapt!"
"I like the fact that with the stability of the classic style trem and locking tuners, I don't need to go to a floyd". Now the Axis with a classic trem I can get on with ..." Convo goes on for a few more hours and more beers are quaffed, Spud heads off into the sunset and still the debate goes on ha!

That Top is awesome!!!! I must say floyds are the most stable bridges on the planet. As long as the Floyd Is blocked, as it is on the axis, it stays in tune, and the fact that the block is touching the body , it provides the tone and sustain of the guitar. I do prefer locking tuners to the locking nut though. It makes tuning and string changes easier and you can do the "Bend behind the nut thing".If I could get an axis with a floyd and locking tuners I'd be in heaven.
