I am an IT professional and we're constantly in a battle as to what technology we have the bodies and ability to support. I'm naturally a Mac user and have a lot of experience with them; however, we've standardized on Windows based machines as our focus of support for primary machines- ie Desktops. and were in the process of migrating our Blackberry's to iPhones and emplimenting iPads as our secondary supplimental devices.

With the new game changer interface being web-based it opens the interface to both PC and MAC users which is great and doesn't leave anyone out that would normally buy a GC.
When it comes to the Mobile devices such as iPads/iPhones vs Andriod Markets how do you decide which interfaces you have the time to support or build for...

Thanks BP-

ios first

i know you're a big Mac / Open source guy and i love it... just was curious to how the decision was made as to which direction to go first.

It just seems to me in my profession that no matter what we decide to support first there are going to be the few fish in the pond whom are not happy with our decisions. Much like the music business i'm sure... that guitar would be great if... or id buy one if...

Thanks again for the infor BP.

I've gotta simmer down on my Posts... gotta save some big news for Post 2k

Do you guys have any recommendations for MIDI foot controllers for TGC?

When I was prototyping MIDI rigs for TGC, I came across something that really boggled my mind, and also led us to create certain features in TGC. First, what boggled my mind, is that the pedals I worked with had limitations on the quantity of program & control changes that can be made simultaneously. For example, the first pedal I tried could only do 2 control changes, and 5 program changes when activating a foot switch. Unfortunately, some of the other MIDI gear I was trying to control required more control changes than program changes. So, we tried to work with another one, and that one did something like 4 control changes and 1 program change when activating a foot switch.

Therefore, one thing to look out for, is how your other MIDI gear is controlled (does it work better with program or control changes?). Then, determine the capabilities of the foot switch you want, and make sure it can control what you need.

This is why we allow the user to program TGC with up to 50 program OR control changes, so it can work with the majority of controllers and MIDI rigs!

All of that being said, I don't really have a recommendation, because it really depends on your needs....however, there are a LOT out there. I recommend doing a search for "MIDI foot controller list." You will get info like this, which is VERY helpful!

Good Luck!

If you are feeling adventurous, make your own! It's not that difficult, it comes out cheaper, it's more fun than walking into a store and buying one, and you can customize it however you want!
Here is a basic example of how to make a MIDI controller using an Arduino microcontroller board: Arduino playground - MidiFoot
