Okay. I'm going to do it. I am going to order either a JPX7, JPXI7, or JPXII7. Here's where I'm at.

JPX7

Pros:
Best color
Can get for $2,200

Cons:
Rounder radius
5 way selector switch
I've heard chambering isn't as conducive to heavy 7 string chugging. I have only heard this. Opinions wanted.
Probably will have nickel frets

JPXI7

Pros:
Flat radius
Steel frets
3 way
Can get for $2,200

Cons:
Least favorite color

JPXII7

Pros:
Second favorite color
Flat radius
Steel frets
3 way

Cons:
Limited availability
Can get for $2,590

That's where I'm at. If I were buying a 6 I would probably order a JPX. So take that into consideration. I will eventually have my Barolo color and it doesn't necessarily have to be the JPX7.

Let me know what you guys think!

Out of your options and observations, I would say get the XII for the 7 and the X for the 6 later on when the steel frets are more easily found in stock. Out of those I've only played the XI7 and it was fantastic. The color is nice in person, but I agree the others look nicer.

Why not a JP7 Honey Burst /w BFR Roasted Neck as part of the 2012 Limited Edition only available to order now during April? I have a feeling you'd love the Roasted Neck :)

But if you insist on those 3, I'd go with the JPXII simply because the Cherry Sugar is freakin' awesome!

I don't know if you have seen the JPXI7 color in person, but it is really color. It looks black in the pics, but it is really like midnight blue sparkle. I love the JPXI :)

Yeah the JPXI finish is much better in person. I have both the JPX and JPXI and after actually getting the JPXI I don't prefer the barolo nearly as much as I thought I would. That said I would save the money and get either the JPX or JPXI. The JPX will do 7 string chug just fine. The color of the XI is very hard to capture, but you can see in this pic how it looks more like a dark blue/grey.

I just saw the JPXII 7 at my local GC. Wow, that thing is beautiful! I would have taken pics but I was too busy working on a deal for some acoustics.

that guitar looks sick d00d. I'm pretty close to ordering one; probably within the next month. How was the set-up/intonation/action out of the box? Did you need to make any adjustments?

Thanks. Setup was okay. Some overbow but probably a significant temperature change from where it was shipped. I heard the east coast has been pretty cold as of late and I'm in Arkansas. I relieved the neck and playability was pretty good. Intonation was spot on an trem was perfectly flat with the top of the body. I thought the action was a bit high beyond the twelfth fret so I lowered the saddles a bit. This brought the trem downward so I relieved the springs. After trem was flat again I then relaxed the neck just a little more. The instrument plays flat across the entire range now. It is an easy instrument to adjust though thanks to the super flat radius.
