My First Electric Guitar EBMM Luke

Called EB and they gave me the birthdate of 11/17/2008.
Color Electric Blue. Discontinued
Paint upgrade Metal flake on body & headstock.
Serial # confirms it was given to an artist at the EB battle of the bands in Hollywood,CA
Found this on Craigslist for 1k, EB rep said it cost over 2k new.
Having a great time learning with this guitar. I dont have an amp yet but this thing just sings unplugged.
Has anyone got an idea on an amp i should get for this guitar? I prefer the cleaner tones for blues.

First of all congrats on your first guitar and that's an insanely good start to have an EBMM. It will not hold you back whatsoever. Welcome to the forum and I'm sure you'll learn a good amount on here from the good folks here. If you're just starting out, and not really playing out, I would go for a Roland Cube. Check out some youtube videos of Alex Hutchings! He plays an EBMM Axis Super Sport through them..he's a monster.

went to my local music store to plug into some modeling amps that i could afford. I didnt really care for all of the effects and i didnt know how to set one up to get the sound im looking for. An older salesman walked by and asked if he could help. Told him i couldnt get the sound i wanted out of the amp. I opened my case and let him use my guitar to show me how to set up an amp. He took it and said "oh what this, some petrucci knock off?" I chuckled and said no its an EBMM Luke, then he's like wow! never seen one of these. Anyway he's playing and i cant believe the sounds coming from my guitar!!!! The sweetest blues i have ever heard. He does this thing where he plays a note then turns the volume knob loud and soft, what is that technique called? When he hands me back my guitar he says, "iv'e been playing 47 years and that is one of the nicest guitars i have ever played, thats better than any guitar i own." How cool is that!!

Sounds like a volume swell or fade. Some people use a volume pedal and others use the volume knob on their guitar.

Very cool. It's amazing to me how many people don't really know or appreciate the quality of EBMM guitars.

+1 on the Cube from Roland. I have a 40xl. It might be all the amp you would ever need for a couple of years....or more. It's my living room/bedroom (aka little) amp, but I play thru it more than my bigger set up.

Nice Luke. They really do play extremely nice. How do you like the soft V? I personally think it is amazingly comfortable.
T-SHOW here jams on a cube and it sounds very nice. I just got an Egnater Renegade and the cleans are killer. The Rebel 30 has incredible clean also and has some great versatile tones that seem ideal for what you are looking for.

A Fender Blues Jr. might also be a good starting point. Good cleans and pushed cleans at practice levels, and takes well to pedals if you want to widen your palette later on.

I've been selling off my stuff to afford a nicer amp, trying to get into a tube amp. There is a 15w fender superchamp x2 at the store im thinking about buying. I dont think its a full tube amp, has anyone tried it out?

My friend you and I, we... We are the same! I purchased my first guitar the JPX without an amp because it left me broke. I highly HIGHLY reccommend the Roland Cube XL20. Theyre cheap and sound freaking fantastic. Trust me on this one bro. You WILL thank me.

And sometimes you can´t think why some more guitar players aren´t converted to MM. Last Saturday, I sold the Ibanez guitar I had, and I let the buyer try the Y2D and the Silho...

Now his next guitar will be a MM, he was amazed by how great these babes are...

Tube amps can get pricey but I think their worth it. I think Blackstar makes great tube amps that are affordable also. You can try the used gear section of your local Guitar Center or event Craigslist.

Laney amps are awesome as well...very basic configuration, but with a massive tone that will drive your neighbors crazy!

I used to have a Fender Super Champ XD. It was pretty good for a little tube hybrid amp. It would make a great first amp. The newer version that you are talking about has some upgraded features (fuse editable and tap tempo for delay) and would be worth looking at for sure. Fender cleans are some of the best in the business! That being said, I'd still compare it with the Roland Cube series. I'd suggest looking at the 40 and bigger. 10 inch speakers are the smallest that I'm interested in hearing for my guitars, but that's just me. To each his own. Good luck and have fun!

I wanted to get the fender superchamp x2 because it was in my price range but no one had them in stock. I purchased a VOX Valvetronix VT40+. Its a hybrid tube/ss modeling amp, and so far im enjoying all the pedal effects and different amp models it has. It also has a headphone jack which was a important because i like to play at night. Plus it was only $249 @ GC, actually only cost $219. If you spent more than $199 you got $30 off the purchase price.
