Hi folks,
A few days ago, I finally got my first EBMM guitar - the Axis SS. It was the Axis SS w/ roasted maple neck. Man, my first impression, the pics you see don't justify the looks of this guitar! That Black Sugar body with roasted neck is really unbelievable! But after playing it for a couple of days, I sadly realized that it's not for me
The "un-contoured" body of the Axis was really bothering me. After a couple of days of playing, I started feeling an uncomfortable pain in my forearm. I only play sitting down, and I usually play for at least a couple of hours per session. Maybe, it's the way I play but either way I have to find a replacement.
Here are the things I like about the Axis SS:
- The Neck - I have a small hands and the neck on the Axis guitars are so comfortable to play with! The sad part, whatever guitar I play in the future, I would always think of that neck. I may eventually like some other neck profile, but I don't think I would love it the way I love the Axis neck!
- Sound versatility - I like playing Metallica songs, but I also like to play very clean sounding songs (finger-picking style). The number 2 and 4 positions of the PUPs are amazing. It gives me the clean sound I'm looking for.
- None tremolo - I don't use the tremolo and probably never will
So, kind folks, will you please give me some suggestions on to whick EBMM guitar I should consider. I was at GC yesterday and tried the Reflex. So far I'm leaning towards it. It looks like I could get the similar sounds you get from Axis and it's really comfortable to play with. The neck, it's ok for now. I tried the JP's, I'm not digging the neck on those guitars. I've heard good things about the Silo and Silo S. It's really hard to find EBMM guitars around my area, even though I only live about 100 miles away from San Luis Obispo, CA. What do you think guys?
Thanks,
Newbie
