I've been keeping an eye out for a nice rosewood board Axis for a while...but can't seem to find one that I like.

I've been thinking about maybe ordering a new one.

If I order one...is there any way to specify or have any say at all in what kind of top it will have? Or is it all totally luck of the draw?

I'm thinking I might like one in tobacco sunburst with matching headstock & rosewood board. I would want it to have a nice flamed top. (My others are all quilt tops & maple boards...so this would be different & a really classic look all around)

Anyone know?

Bfr is the only way to choose between quilt and flame

You can check within the existing dealer network if such option is already made and available

who would trade a tribute in almost immediately after buying it? For them to drop the price it has to sit for atleast 3 months so someone didnt have it very long. very nice

I'd say either:

1. They didn't like it.

Or

2. Something happened and they couldn't afford to keep it.

But of course we are forgetting the obvious:

3. GAS

I ordered a BFR from Pete Dubaldo. I was able to choose between flame & quilt. If tobacco is what you're looking for, maybe this will suit your fancy:

If you are set on Tobacco burst with flame and rosewood fretboard as a color then you will need to find a Axis BFR that was ordered with those options as Tobacco is no longer offered as a color choice on the BFR line. Why is that? Well, as others have mentioned the only way to select flame/quilt is on the BFR version which has 4 color choices - Black burst, Ruby burst, Bahama Blue burst, and Cherry burst. You can also select a maple or rosewood fretboard on the BFR model.

If you can't find the exact guitar somewhere then you will have to make some concessions and order based upon current options.

The regular Axis model comes with a maple-only neck, floyd tremolo, 3-way toggle. Tobacco burst is an option, flame/quilt luck of the draw.

The Axis SuperSport offers you a choice of maple/rosewood fretboard and either a hardtail tremolo bridge, 5-way toggle. Tobacco burst is an option, flame/quilt luck of the draw.

I hope that helps...
