Just picked up a Musicman Sub bass. Finally found a black one!
Serial is X07023.
and as a random side Q.
Any idea how many passive Subs were made?
This was advertised as a passive Sub.
However when I got down there it was an active, but at $280 I couldn't pass it up!

i found a guy selling what appears to be a fake stingray 5 on ebay- the serial #X07182

it doesnt have the standard, "made in san luis obispo" stamped on the back, pick guard is like that of a 4 string and most importantly there is no battery compartment on the back... just wondering if that serial number checks out

That is a valid serial number for a Passive(no battery) S.U.B. 5 string, textured black finish, built on 04/14/04
There will be a sticker on the back of the head stock with the serial number, but no silk screened "made in San Luis Obispo, CA"

Stingray Bass Slo Special

So I stumbled across a "scratch and dent" special at the local GC on a Hot Rod Red SR4 Slo. I haven't been able to find much but I think this is a standard SR4 body with a Sterling neck. It has a single humbucker, 3-way EQ and volume, with a rosewood finger-board and it plays sweet! Can't find a scratch or dent.

For the record, the S/N is E72467. Any other info that can be provide will be greatly appreciated.
