hi everyone...i have a question to do to you musicman petrucci owners.....when i connect the jack to the piezo/pickups input with the pick ups selected the sound is powerful but when i connect it to the pickups-only jack the sound is weaker....how is it possible? is it normal? is me that is stupid? do i have to bring my "baby" to the "doctor"? i'm really worried :/

i don't know if a question like that was already asked...but i didn't find on the forum anything similar...so i asked...

thank you very much to everyone that will answer:)

Hi Roberta - sorry I can't help you at the moment as I'm working away - otherwise I'd do a check on my JP6.

Try good ol' CS and see what they say? - oh yeah and let us know how you get on?

It's one of those things that you can't diagnose over the Internet. Like Spud said call Customer Service and see what they say.

The output with the mags/piezos is buffered, so electrically there's a difference. But yes- give the customer service guys a shout and they can help you sort this out.

I have the same thing with my BFR - nothing to worry about. "It's not a bug, it's a feature" :) Like beej said, the buffer makes the difference. It is not so noticable when the guitar is plugged directly to an amp, is more noticeable when I use G-System.

If you feel very uncomfortable with that - call CS, they're really nice guys :)

Hello, I don't own a JP model but I watched this video on connecting one with Piezo and the video mentions that there is a difference in output depending on how you connect it so I don't think there is a problem with your guitar.

What she said!

The buffered output from the mag/piezo tends to be 'stronger' for want of a better word. The output from the mags only has a higher impedance (the signal is squeezed a bit more).

You can see the effects of impedance when using long cables, where very long runs start to affect the sound of the guitar (like Hendrix's famous curly leads).
