There are definitely some temptations there. I'm glad I live in Canada and it's not as easy to buy.

That's a good one, gotta remember that one for the wife! :D

It is a true fact.

Story: I´m a very good "saver". I only spend in guitars (and got bit by the MM bug only 18 months ago, so the GAS has started recently) and travels.

I have a fund that´s solely for guitars & travels (The GT fund as I call it) and that´s where all the spare money I collect or earn goes. Can be 5 bucks or 200 a month, anything in between, I throw it there. It adds up a LOT.

But after saving a decent amount of money (at least by a young man´s standard) I noticed that the bank was giving me crap for it. For about 6 grand saved 3 years, I got like 50 bucks worth of interest.

And then I noticed that MM guitars have a very cool character (besides being utterly amazing as instruments). They hold their value in time. And since I live in Chile, where you can´t find them unless you pay sky-rocket prices, I decided to invest money in MM guitars.

If 6 grands = almost 5 guitars, the pleasure they have given me exceeds largely the 50 bucks that the bank would´ve given me for having the money there.

And, if I´m in a hurry, I can always sell the guitars. If I buy them cheap (or at decent prices) I can be sure that, at least, I´ll recover the investment.

So far it has worked perfectly.

Money itself is useless. It is only good for the things you can afford with them. And (after the bills and mortgage are paid on a monthly basis) what can be cooler than investing and rewarding yourself with the best guitars on earth?

I should write a book on this :D

Why is it that when I convert the dollar to the Canadian dollar, Guitar Center suddenly wants a fortune for those guitars? I don't know if they are figuring duty and what not, but even still, they are charging a small fortune considering the Canadian dollar is worth more than the US dollar right now. Oh well, I guess that kills my GAS for today.

New member here, mostly been lurking. Anyone know the reason for the price drop? I just recently bought a used JP6 BFR from GC, after I saw that they dropped the price on the brand new ones to ~$2,200 for the black burst I ended up returning the used one and bought one brand new. Perfect timing! Love EBMM guitars.

Should check out the price on a JPX and JPXI - it's at 1,837.99.. I want to buy another one! JPXI-7 - $1942.99 - definitely cheaper than or on par with used prices atm.

End of fiscal year, inventory, etc. They always have good deals right about now.

There are ways around the duty crap. You just gotta be resourceful. Not that I've ever participated in any such behavior:D:D:D:D

Hey Guys,

This is what is going on at GC. They had planned an in store across the board sale. Previously, they could change the price in the store and that would be isolated to the store. With some recent changes to their IT systems, now all pricing feeds to all places. The result is that their in store sale pricing mistakingly ended up on line on gc.com and GC Platinum. They have been scrambling to get this fixed. The in store sale they were promoting has already ended and they are still having the pricing issue..

This has turned out to be one of the most stressful purchases ever for me...

Now I really don´t know which guitar I´ll be getting...fingers crossed for the Purple Burst!!!
