Hi & hello to all here at the Forum

Sorry my 1st post has to be a question... but I was hoping someone from Ernie Ball could help. I see that the Sub AX3 is available in Trans Black in the US but its only available in the UK & Europe in Trans Blue or Red. I've asked a store based in the UK & one in Germany to check for me & they say they can only get it in Red or Blue.

Is there any chance of making it available to the UK/EU in Trans black?? I've even tried to see if its possible to get it in trans Black from Guitar centre & Musiciansfriend but they won't ship it to the UK.

I'd really appreciate some input on this, thanks. :)

Thanks for the info guys, I really appreciate it.

It does seem to be mainly available everywhere in Blue & Red but for some reason MusiciansFriend & Guitar Centre also have the Sub AX3 in Trans Black

Sterling by Music Man SUB AX3 Axis Electric Guitar | Musician's Friend

Its there in the colour options, must be an exclusive thing then. I have a EVH Wolfgang Special which I absolutely love, I really like how compact & easy it is to play (although it did take a while to get used to the smaller neck for chording). I'd love to get to try an Axis but unfortunately cant afford one, & there isn't a store anywhere near me that stocks Musicman. So I thought The Sub AX3 would be a great & affordable choice.

I think the Axis/Wolfgang design is so compact & much more comfortable to play than most other guitars I've tried eg. Les Pauls, Strats, Tele (although I still love my Tele modern Player)

Sorry for waffling on here. I just thought I'd check here for the availability of the AX3 in black, because I'm not really into the Trans Blue, the reds not bad looking but I would've prefer it in black. Suppose it wouldn't hurt to shoot Brian Martin a wee email about it.

Thanks again :)

I haven't seen them in black I know they are available in blue and red. The sub series and the regular SBMM-series are licensed remakes on the American musicman guitars and basses.. But they are very well made but on more price point driven pieces that are still world-class in sound and feel. Meaning, when you pick up a sub series or SBMM peace you still feel like you're playing a musicman. I myself had worked with Pat before his departure from SBMM and now with Brian and have ordered three pieces of the SBMM line guitars and two pieces of the sub series basses.. I am pretty sure that they are only available and what ever is shown on the website www.Sterlingbymusicman.com. I do know that some special pieces were sent to guitar center and possibly musician friends but nothing in black from what I recall. I think they were walnut finish four string basses etc.. Could you be mistaking the regular SBMM AX 40 line for the new Sub AX3? All in all I hope you find a compromise or resolution to your situation. It would be wise to contact Brian Martin he is the new man in charge over at SBMM and praxis. Aloha

Thanks for your input RJKANEAO, I'm definitely sure about the Sub AX3 being available in trans black. If you look for it at MusiciansFriends, its there as an optional colour. This must be exclusive to MF & Guitar Center.

I've emailed Brian Martin for a more conclusive answer but it looks like I'll probably end up getting it in Trans red.

Hello members!
My name is Brian, and I am the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Praxis Musical, as well as the Product Specialist. We are the manufacturer of Sterling By Music Man.

To answer your question, the AX3-TBK is an exclusive to GC/MF in the USA, and is available on a very limited basis Internationally from some of our distributors. Once January NAMM comes around, we'll have more of the International Distributors picking that one up.

To keep the competition playing field even in the USA, we've made some colors exclusive not only for GC/MF, but also for our Domestic USA Dealers. The AX3-TBK happens to be one of those. Yes, by contract, GC/MF can't sell or ship them outside the USA.

I hope this helps clear this up!

Thanks for the reply Brian, good to know the AX3-TBK will be possibly available over here after Jan. I'll hold out & Hope one of the 2 main stores I buy from ( andertons.co.uk / thommann.de) will get in. I'm sure they'll try their best for me if I ask nicely :)
