I came across an obscure Craigslist add the other day. A guy had listed a bunch of bass gear for trade only. He listed amps and cabs and then stated he had a left handed bass. He posted a photo of a right handed Blue Dawn Sterling but stated that the bass was a lefty Stingray LE from 2007. I realized that this may be the very same bass that had hung on the wall at a small EBMM dealer in my area about 5 years ago. I had gone in many times and played this bass and lusted after it intensely!
I love Blue Dawn and knew this may be the last time I ever come across a lefty. So I offered up a non EBMM guitar as a trade and it worked out perfectly. The bass was pretty dirty but no damage or scratches to speak of. Took me a few days of work to get most of the grime off the fingerboard but it was totally worth it. After a bit of 0000 grit steel wool and a few coats of True Oil, I had her all back together and could not be happier!
I added the vintage cream pick guard that I had ordered from the factory earlier this year. I liked how the original black guard looked but cant resist this combo. What a color to see in person! And despite the maple boards needing a tad more maintenance, they are so fun to play on!
