As blasphemous and strange as that thing is, it kind of makes me want to buy a sterling and have a go at doing this but with a modicum of taste (and one jack socket).

OK, Texas. Step away from the hand tools. You think that's high quality work? I dread to think what the routing under the pickguard will be like? OH, THE HUMANITY!!!

Still, might be salvageable. A nice pickguard, properly cut and finished, any stray screw holes could be filled and coloured to be reasonable invisible. Could be sweet, eh?
