Question MM Axis Dropped Tunings and thick strings

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone has tuned an Axis down to Dropped B or C tuning with 10-52 gauge strings or other heavy strings? Can the pickups handle low tunings like drop B? Or would it fuzz out? Also how would the neck handle 10-52 or even 10 -56?

I play in a heavy hardcore metal band but I dont use my Axis as I am afraid it will lose its playability and the nice action and feel that the neck has. I use a JP6 in dropped B instead of my Axis, which is ok but Im really starting to not like the way my JP plays with the heavy strings. Plus I think the JP neck is too wide for my hand.
I seem to play effortlessly on the Axis which has a narrower neck. So I am considering selling my JP6 to pay for another Axis that I can tune down and put heavier gauge strings on. ( if it can handle it that is)

Anyone have any ideas or has done this before?

I'm using my Luke for my downtuned stuff. Beefy Slinky's 11-52 for C Standard and that is the largest size that will fit through my locking tuner. Stays in tune good. Now with the Axis and the lock nut you shouldn't have any problem with whatever gauge you choose but 10-52 seems a little light and loose for dropped B.

11's for dropped B is best. The Axis can handle that easily. Just make sure all the other adjustments are made as well concerning the neck, intonation, etc.

I use 10-52 on my Morse and 11-52 on my SUB (standard tuning in both cases). No problem here !
You will have perhaps to increase the nut slots and adjust the intonation and the action. Very easy with a Music Man.

Thanks for the tips mate. Did you mean 11-52's, cos thats not much different to 10-52's. I just hate playing on really thick strings, it really affects the playability for me, thats why Id only go with the closest heaviest gauge that is passable for Dropped B tuning

I have 10-52's on my JP6 which is tuned to Dropped B and that holds up quite well actually, its slightly loose but not bad. ONly problem with going heavier on the JP is the nut slots are small...
