Two bridge versions of the Cruiser for middle and neck position, just like Mr Timmons likes it. I really like the attention to detail! What a great project!!

+1 on that!

So, what's the game plan? Build it, play it, then pull then neck and send it off for the treatment? Just wondering...

Couldn't you buy a new neck for it? Then your fret and dirt problem would be solved : ) -
I've found it cheaper (other brands of Bolt on guitars) to just get e new neck vs. a re-fret.....

I think the plan is that I'm just going to live with the neck. It may need some work on the frets. I think I'll show it to some local luthier/repair folks and see what they think they can do with the frets. If a re-fret makes sense, I'll send it to EBMM. I think I'll get the frets taken care of before I do the build.

Right now, I'm just collecting the parts. I have to get a tremolo arm, the little plastic tip for the pickup selector, maybe new saddles if I can't polish them. If I get the second tone control, I'll need a pickguard to accomodate it. I may just do a whole new pickguard assembly for that while keeping the original one intact.

This post is just for me to "take notes."

"Andy had me put caps on the volumes of many of his guitars, and all the AT's he uses. I use a 150k resistor in series with a .001 capacitor. This keeps the tone from brightening up too much as you turn down the volume, and evens out the taper as well."

Okay. Murphy's Oil Soap is getting some of the dirt off, but I think the neck is irretrievably stained, which is something I think I'm going to have to live with. Sanding isn't doing anything significant right now with the appearance of the neck. It seems to have brightened it up a bit, though. More importantly, I'm getting that glassy feel back with the neck.

The following may not be officially sanctioned ... but a bit of naptha on a cloth or rag will help dissolve much of the gunk from a blackened neck. I like to use an old terry towel or sock. I've done this numerous times with EBMM necks that have accumulated dirt from my playing and with used EBMMs that have someone else's accumulated dirt on the neck.

Follow with some Murphy's treatment and then a light sanding with fine (1000 +) sandpaper. Finally finish with the Birchwood Casey gunstock oil and wax.

If you do use naptha, follow ALL safety precautions on the label and dispose of cloths and rags according to the label. The stuff (and the vapors that will emanate from any cloths used) is highly flamable.

I think I have some black switch tips around if you need one. I'd give it to you. Hit me up if you are interested.
