Andy,

Thanks for the information regarding the luke 1 and luke 2 necks. I have been wondering about this. I have only had the opportunity to try one luke 2 and it was prior to getting my luke 1 reissue.

I love the color of your guitar. I am leaning towards it being pearl red rather than candy red. Is that your assessment as well?

The new floyd that is on the luke 1 reissue is my favorite floyd of all time. I prefer it to the floyd on my original luke 1 and the floyd on my 2004 axis. Perhaps I am partial to it because it is on my favorite guitar, but I find that it really is smooth, ultra responsive and stays in tune brilliantly.

I was wondering if you received a certificate of authenticity that was signed by Steve Lukather? It states in the Andertons advertisement that this would come with the guitar. I did not receive one with my sledge luke 1, but mine was not obtained through Andertons.

Thanks,

Tom

Well Tom, the cardboard sleeve the case came in states candy red on it so i dont know for show. I still think its pearl red but i could be wrong.

TBH i didnt receive the certificate, but the guys at strings and things are on it for me. I'm sure it was just an oversight. The music shop said they would forward it on to me. Can't say fairer than that. I'll get some btter pics in daylight tomorrow buddy.

Cheers Andy

Stunning guitar - the birdeye on the neck is fantastic. Would like to hear how she sounds.

I haven't plugged it in yet. Not even in the store. I can't bring myself to stop staring long enough to plug it in. I will though tomorrow. :)

Welcome to the LUKE I club. Long standing member here.

-Bobby

Cheers Bobby - It's a great club to be in. As much as I love my vintage style trems, somehow the Luke looks like it's flexing it's muscles when it wears the locking trem. Now I'm going to polish it for a while. :)

Andy first off congrats on the luke 1 were you lucky enough to ever have a go on the original luke 1? just wondering how they compare not that ive ever played either the luke one or the reissue but I no doubt will one day ;)
Secondly where are you based? You mentioned you picked it up from prom and I recognised the pictures from inside prom... Im just in kendal and always out and about watching bands and Ive never stumbled across your lovely signature range or are you not in a band? Neil

Andy:

Congratulations! This guitar is brilliant and looks amazing!

I have an original Luke 1 in red and yours is the same color. Very dark and I love it! I also have a Luke 1 Reissue in Sledge.

Enjoy!

Stunning guitar! I wish the Floyd was an option on the HH Luke III

+1

I couldn't agree with you more!

I wish it was an option on all Luke models to be honest. It is such a hot rod guitar capable of so much versatility, including it being a fabulous shredding machine. It is a shame it cant be equipped with the floyd at this point.

If I am not mistaken, all it would take is for Mr. Lukather to want this as well.

Cheers,

Tom

Hmmm. I have always thought of the Luke II as the "Luke I with a vintage trem". Otherwise it's the same guitar, isn't it? Same specs except the trem. So no need for a Luke II with Floyd, AS LONG AS YOU OFFER THE LUKE I AS A NORMAL PRODUCTION MODEL (see what I did there?!?). :D:D:D:D

So what would be ideal:

  • Luke I: Bring it back as a normal production model -- this is the classic Luke with Floyd -- and offer more colors
  • Luke II: Keep this as a normal production model as-is -- this is the classic Luke with Vintage Trem
  • Luke III: Offer it with either a Floyd or a Vintage Trem. Maybe make it the Luke IIIF and Luke IIIV.

Then, of course, what to do with the BFR's?!? Thus far the BFR is a Luke II, right? So I guess make Luke I BFR, Luke II BFR, and Luke III BFR.

So, now you have:

  • Luke I
  • Luke I BFR
  • Luke II
  • Luke II BFR
  • Luke IIIF
  • Luke IIIV
  • Luke IIIF BFR
  • Luke IIIV BFR

I can now see BP's sticking pins in a Jeff DiBart voodoo doll. ;)

I believe the other differences between the Luke I and Luke II are the Luke I does not have a tone control and it uses SA single coil pups instead of SLV single coils in the Luke II.

And I would be interested in a Bahama Blue BFR Luke III. ;)
