Too bad this type of mojo doesn't look good on my truck :)

It does look good on your truck...

A real ding rather than a fake 'relic' ding is always welcome. Its a character mark and it means you are using your guitar rather than spending all day polishing it, and worrying about a tiny 2mm scratch!

I was going to tell you to check in your case. Over a decade ago my wife handed me a Seafoam Green paint chip she found on the carpet that looked like the state of Texas and asked me if it belonged to one of my guitars. To my shock on the bottom of my Strat that was out there was the missing finish and for the world of me I still cant figure out till this day how it happened as it looked like it just fell out as their were not even little stress cracks around the edge and I would of known if I banged it. I just took a little crazy glue and it fit right back in perfectly that you would never find where it happened. Glad you found the chip!

This is not Mojo. This is a big fat Chip that you need to seal before moisture gets under it and spreads through out the entire guitar. The Finish on the Steve Morse #1 is not the same as on your guitar with the chip. If you do not seal it it will spread like a cracked Mirror and look like crap. Most of you guys should get an award for blowing sunshine up people butts on every thread day in and day out. Call it what it is a Big Fat Giant Chip !!! Thank you.

I feel much more free and relaxed when I play a beat up instrument. Then I can concentrate on playing, instead of just protecting the instrument from everyting that moves and/or has sharp edges on it.

I prefer the mojo, even when I want to preserve the pristinity. Playing is what it's all about.

At this point, I'm still over protecting my JP6, but I know mojo/battle scars are practically inevitable. So once it happens I'l be like "Oh..." then just go about my business. All my guitars have this character and it makes me love them more.

Nice post Floyd as there is nothing like keeping it real. Yes it was a nasty and ugly gouge but now that he found the missing piece to the puzzle he should be able to do a decent repair.

I bought the Luke guitar with many battle scars. None of my other Balls have them.

While is nothing to worry about, it just tells the axe is a player and that it will never be better looking than when new. After it leaves the box, it becomes a tool and it should be used. Not to be an ass and throwing it around, but chances are that, no matter how much you take care of it, something will happen.

As Cat Stevens wisely said, "the first cut is the deepest".

Now, keep rockin!

OK, finaly, I got the time for an update for all of you (I've been crazy busy here)... As said in my previous post, I had found the "paint chip" in my guitar case. So here it's how it looks now:
