I couldn't resist this one when JohnC put it up for sale. Absolutely love my mint green AL but the PDN has slightly different spec so I thought it wouldn't simply be a duplicate guitar (well that was how I justified it).

On first play I have to say I am totally stoked with it. I think the roasted maple neck gives the tone more of a cutting bite compared to the Rosewood, so yes different but just as awesome, I absolutely love it.

On the downside, I really do need to sell some of my other balls so keep a look out, I'll post them here first before offering them up to the wider community and I'll try to throw a deal in for knuckleheads.

Here's a couple of pics but it looks so much better in the flesh.

Nice! I agree with your justifications for the purchase; you can even tell your wife I said so.

I have an unfinished roasted neck on my Morse. It feels more slippery, in a very good way, than an unfinished non-roasted maple neck does. Do you think your roasted neck feels more slippery? Maybe 'faster' is a better word?

I know what you mean Tollie, roasted neck is really smooth and comfortable, I can't choose a favourite between the three (unfinished std maple, roasted maple, and full rosewood). All I do know is that they are all much better than other makes painted necks imo.

I don't yet own a full rosewood neck, but I love rosewood fretboards. Coincidentally, the only color Albert Lee I want is seafoam green. You have excellent taste.

Congrats on a stunning AL HH!

I have a black sugar/roasted maple AL HH and that is exactly what I love about it compared to the rosewood AL HH. Love them both to bits, but would gladly add a PDN AL HH also!

Gorgeous. I just watched a beautiful used Al HH disappear from Guitar Center's used site because I'm forcing myself to first sell one and I have a buyer who gets a bonus to pay for my Axis in April. Sigh.

That is one sick guitar bro. I already know the HH AL is a great playing and sounding guitar, but the look on that one is fantastic. That one is definitely a keeper.

That is so sweet Simon! You and I have serous GAS issues! About time we got together for a "tone summit" to compare the toys! Hopefully it worked out financially sensible as the dollar is strong and the import tax is high! ;)

Thanks everyone, it surely is a keeper.

Steve, yea it would be cool to get together to compare our Musicmen! (I resisted the obvious). I think I'm finally coming to the end of my guitar GAS which is about time. The only other model I definitely want is a Luke III but apart from that I'm done, unless a really nice one comes up of course!

Prices are better than the UK, as is the choice, but the high dollar/shipping/import duty certainly takes the gloss off of a sweet deal. I do find that most sellers are very 'understanding' though ;)

Wow Simon, that is beautiful.......Congrats....and by the way, there is nothing wrong with owning multiple colors of the same guitar. Each guitar is hand crafted and surprisingly different....That's what I tell myself.....That would be my taste in an Al.....It is so classy looking! Enjoy...

Thanks Tim, I'm genuinely thrilled with this one. I can't believe I ignored the AL's for so long, they just feel so right for me.

I'm pretty sure I'll end up with another one at some point, an SSS would be nice!

Sorry for being a few days late to say thanks to Simon for keeping this one "in the family." I know he's going to enjoy this one; the AL HH just wasn't for me:( I should have tried to turn up a PDN Axis SuperSport with MM-90s.

Hey Simon, does the Al SSS sound real twangy like a tele or strat single coil sound..? Please explain the difference from the Al HH....or an Axis? I think I am getting GAS for an Al....I need more info......Thanks
