So, OlPlayer and his missus come to pick me up on Friday night and OlPlayer drops his Blackstar 5 watt combo off.
We'll have a session next Friday afternoon up in my Man Cave (I say up cos it's in my loft, but cave doesn't seem right!!)

So here I am , JP6 / BCB /Hardtail AL/ep booster

Either straight into the amp or with the little EP booster - man its a great little practice amp.

I tried it live when OlPlayer first had it and I was disappointed - but I'm loving this little amp!!!- especially with the JP6.

This set up is close to the one Jamie Humphries uses - and I can see why

Texas Finally!
Yep I reallly like my Blackstar even better the second time as well. Great home /practice amps.

I have the 2x10 Anniversary combo now, had an original head and stack but was still experimenting with amps so sold it for an Egnater.

Recently went back to BS when my high end(wont mention names) new amp failed and had to be sent back . Did not hesitate to pick up this BS and sounds great with my AL and ASS:)

Yes Keith - it's a great little practice amp indeed - I wonder what the one watt version would be like as a practice amp?
As a home/bedroom amp it's great, and like I said earlier Jamie uses one miked up for his clinics.

Hey Guys,

Really like the Blackstar amps. Fogman and I are actually close to grabbing one of the limited white Blackstar HT-5RW combos. But, I'm thinking how close to true bedroom levels am I going to get with this? I'm thinking that even 5 watts might be too much for me. How low can I get the volume and still have it sound like a valve/tube amp should sound?

Yes, the 5 watts is still a heck of a volume, but I have reasonable sound proofing lol.

Maybe the HT-1 Combo would be the way to go? Described as "the perfect studio and practice guitar amp"

1 watt of tube goodliness.

Hi Spud,
That Xotic EP booster is great isn't it.
I'm using it for a lead boost on my Cornford Roadhouse through the effects loop.
It certainly gets peoples attention!

Hey Ming

Sure is a good piece of kit - I was really turned onto it when we were at Jamie's clinic.

ha - had an early finish today. Missus not home so plugged the JP6 into the Blackstar, ep boost full on and I thought "that's nice", then I realised it was the clean channel!!! ooops.

So I switched to the overdrive and the "beasts were unleashed" - nice little amp this.

Me too, Jamie has cost me a fortune over the years.
Strangely I still don't sound like him when I play, can't understand why?

The same here ... Jamie made me buy a HT5 head.
The HT5 can be loud (especially when you connect it to a 2x12" with old Celestion ...). But now, it's not a problem anymore thanks to this clever little box :
Koch Dummybox Home | Power attenuator / Dummyload & Speaker Simulator | koch-amps.com

I can crank my HT5 and my other tube amps without awaking wife and kids ...
